I am a younger Bobcats fan so have never had the affiliation to the Hornets name that others do, I have always known the Bobcats as the Bobcats and I think I will stick with it for now. I want the Bobcats to make their own name in history, we sucked as the Bobcats now I want to win as the Bobcats. I don't want the Bobcats name to be remembered for being the worst NBA team in history.
This is just my personal preference and I am sure I would feel differently if I was older or a Charlotte native.

Lets be honest, the Bobcats have been a tragedy. At one point we led the league in attendance when the Hornets were in Charlotte. We're a huge basketball state considering EVERYONE comes to NC to play college ball (UNC & Duke) we also have the most current NBA players.
No. Fans who don't support a franchise because of a name are fans that won't be there when times are tough. Leave the name as is and let's focus on rebuilding, not rebranding.

I feel the same way. I do not know much about the Charlotte Hornets, but I can claim to be a Cats fan since day one. The Bobcats have started a history and it should continue, renaming the team back to the Hornets would just kill off the Bobcats lagacy (as if the Cats never existed in the league).

The Bobcats don't have a legacy yet, last year this team was the worst team in NBA history. Everything that's associated with the Bobcats so far is mostly negative. This franchise is the biggest laughing stock in NBA history (maybe even in sports history). It's going to take the Bobcats 5 years of success (and maybe even more) to get the title of being terrible away.
This doesn't only go into wins and losses, we are also terrible at drafting. We've drafted a lot more garbage players than decent & good players.
But that's not to say that we can't turn it around. I'm most certain we can change people's perspective on us.

Pretty much nothing you have said here will or even can change with something as superfluous as rebranding. Having lived/worked through the USAir -> US Airways change, I can tell you that none of that changed the fundamental problems with that company, I seriously doubt that any change from Cats -> Hornets will either. If it's improving (which I think the Cats are) then it's already begun and the name is fluff (and several millions paid into said fluff).
If they change the name, I'll still love my hometown team - that will never change. But they surely don't need to change the name to appeal to me.
Thats one thing that was always offputting and disturbing to me about the Bring Back the Buzz movement, its a bunch of mid 20-30 year olds that miss their youth and nostalgia for something they loved as a kid, and they want to force it back on everyone else, even those that have liked the Bobcats since they were kids. Basically doing the same thing they are so mad about to a new generation.
If you mention that to them they just respond with "durr no kids ever liked the Bobcats, who cares" or the classic "they're kids, they don't care what the name of the team is" they don't realize the irony as they are still completely devestated to this day about "losing their Hornets" a decade later.
overall its definitely a douchey, weird organization
and yes I'm an adult that lived through the Hornets in Charlotte
