If they were the Oklahoma City Bobcats, they would still sell out every night. And if we were the Charlotte Thunder (or Hornets, for that matter), this team still would not. So can we at least put that argument aside? Furthermore, merchandise revenue is split between the teams. MJ is technically already getting money from Charlotte Hornets sales, is he not?
Hornets is certainly a "cooler" nickname than Bobcats, and I love the historical tie for sure (and hold a personal preference for the colors), but I've also really bought into the new uniforms and focus of this Bobcats team, particularly after last year's shit storm. Just brings a smile to my face seeing Kemba and MKG rolling around in those 'Cats jerseys.
Anyways, as QC said, MJ has managed to turn his whole persona into probably the most dominant image in sports, and this from a dude wearing ripped up acid wash jeans every day. He knows the right people, we're in good hands, and whatever happens, those of us who care will get to see a young, entertaining team grow and mature and hopefully create some awesome memories for kids today like many of us have for the old Hornets.
