agreed cltblk....u can throw Miami in that group as well...and yes as i posted above it does happen in every city...just alot more here....its pretty simple that with more years here in Charlotte and more tradition , the Bobcats will see less and less of this....thats a long term fix...but in the short term i think its as simple as winning games...the more diehard Bobcats fans and even the novice or bandwagon fans that start to show up when we start winning more just means that less and less tickets will be available which in turn means less opposing fans at the game

I have to disagree on Miami, at least based on last year. I think Miami "hate" helped fuel an 80% Bobcat crowd that night. Of course the Cam Newton buzz was big when he was in the building plus our team wasn't total crap yet and actually played a hell of a game. But we'll see on the 26th though.

im not soo sure about that...maybe its not Miami as much as it is Lebron....even when he was with Cleveland and i was at the game it seems like at least 25% of the arena cheered their asses off anytime he made a good play

PS you definately forgot about the Lakers....they might have 1 of the largest and loudest Charlotte fanbase that always fills up our arena...i remember several years back when i was at the game that we played vs the Lakers...it was that 3 overtime game where Kobe dropped 58 ( which we won i must add ) and the Arena was sold out and i remember vividly the arena being basically 50/50 split with Laker and Bobcat fans....and it became a competition of which fan base could get louder....the Laker fans were going nuts an extremely loud , especially with Kobe on fire.....but the Bobcat fans were even louded...it was probably the most exciting Bobcat game i have ever attended...my point being the Lakers always fill up the arena with lots and lots of their fans

But I missed the Knicks game, So didn't see Ms.Ready plead for respect. With this little skid we been on lately I don't expect much from local fans. But honestly....We dont win....So can you really hate on people for dreaming of the lost Hornets days. I'm just happy to not be the worst team in the league

no confederate flag. don't like that either. no pickup truck either. i do have a minivan though. i hate the "new south" term because it implies the old south (as in 30 years ago) was not a nice place. sure, there were major problems but it wasn't much different than the north. i am from yankee-ville and know that racial harmony is far from the truth. as a matter fact, i think racial relations are much better in the south than they are in the north.

anyway, the reason i don't like it is because what seems to happen is that it is code for "northerners, come down here for weather and cheaper cost of living, trust us we are slowly pushing out these dumb southerners and their culture, except for the bbq, we like that better."

Have you seen how many New Yorkers live here? We have been struggling and they are doing great. At least the place was packed. Hopefully we can turn some if those people to Bobcat fans.

I have been a Knicks fan since the 1960's. But I was wearing my Bobcats gear and cheering for our Cats.

People that live in Charlotte will come around with a couple of winning seasons.

@KGE you are right, i grew up in Brooklyn as a Knicks fan ... moved to charlotte in 97. I started following the Hornets and now i Love the Cats. I still love the knicks but that love has faded over the years. As time passes by I have become a bigger Cats fan, I watch every game and also attend many games. I didnt attend the game because i am torn between both teams, so i just watched from home and found myself cheering for the cats.

didn't hear the comments because I was at the game but I think that complaining about NY fans (especially on television) filling up the arena is just ridiculous. I was actually sitting next to some Knicks fans who were yes cheering for NY but talking the whole time about how competitive the Bobcats were and also took advantage of the $10 shirt deal. We are converting fans and that's kind of the point. We have been a bad team that lost a lot of it's identity when we let Crash, etc go and part of this whole rebuild is gaining fans of the team, too. None of that happens overnight.

For the record I thought that us Bobcats fans were very loud at that game and much of the noise after the JR Smith shot was just as much disbelief than it was fans cheering.

I was at the game so I didn't hear her comments, but this isn't anything new at all. I think it has gotten better over the years, but New York and Boston are the two worst games for this kind of atmosphere. And like some of you guys have said, there are plenty of transplants down here who will pay good money to see their hometown team once or twice a year.

Because it was a great game and came down to the end sure you can magnify it, but this happens in other cities too, people are always going to follow winners and tradition. We have to make our own, plain and simple. Rival fans are better than the apathy we had last season.

That's how I feel, coach. I wasn't at the game (overnapped) so I couldn't hear the "true" sound of the cheers but it didn't sound anything more exceptional than you'd expect considering the team. I didn't really get Stephanie's soapbox; I appreciated it, but didn't think it made sense unless she overheard some of our players and/or coaches discussing it. I was at the infamous Ray Allen last second 3 after the JRich inbound debacle and, the Smith shot (granted, I only heard it on tv) didn't get any louder of a response from what I could tell.

As you well know, Bobcats fans make more than their fair share of noise and some talk their fair share of shit to these same fans (Knicks, Celts, Lakers, LeBron-era Cavs, etc.) when we beat them in our house.

Like I said, I appreciate her taking exception, but I thought it's being overblown here for the reasons coach mentions.
