Default Biyombo's emergence as of late

I just wanted to start a threat about the recent play of Biz..i think over the past 5 games he has really played well.....he really worried me to start the year ( including summer league and preseason ) bc he looked like he had regressed big time and i know it was premature but alot of us were kind of thinking bust??

Dunlap has increased his minutes over the last 5 games ( from 19 to 27 a game ) and Biz has taken full advantage..i have been really impressed as of late and have noticed that he seems to be more agressive and alot smarter about his agressiveness ( if thats a word )

Thru the first 12 games he was averaging 4 points 3.4 rbds and 1.3 blocks...this was in roughly 17 minutes...now in the past 5 games where he has played pretty good basketball Dunlap has increased his minutes from those 17-18 to 27 minutes a game...and he just hasnt been a stiff out there taking up space and not making use of those minutes...its been quite the opposite

over the last 5 games in 27 minutes a game he is averaging 6 points...7.6 rbds and 2.4 blocks...not mind blowing numbers but its a vast improvement...and with Biz its not all about stats...u can just tell by watching him that he looks alot better...he has been a force down low in the past 5 and has made himself open for easy dunks down low and been more agressive and alot more poised when it comes to blocking shots...

I just figured that Biz deserved a little shout out for his recent play and wanted to get everyones opinion

I was think about starting a similar thread. It appears the light came on and he is playing vs. thinking.

The most impressive part to me is how mch has has improved at catching the ball. He has caught some pretty difficult passes this year. Last year a simple bounce pass had a 50% chance of bouncing off his knee.

    Kudos to Biz.

I agree Jgib...he has the worst hands i have ever seen...ppl wonder why we dont run the pick and roll with biz when he is wide open ..its bc the PG's are terrified of throwing the ball downlow only so he can bounce it off his foot out of bounds....its almost sad and i feel bad for him how pitaful he is catching / holding on to the ball....

Only thing i will disagree with is that Biz has been alot better this year at catching the ball...he actually went thru summer league / preseason and the first 12 games of the year with same problem....but i have to give props where they are due....over the last 5 games he has done a great job at catching the ball and it shows with all of those open dunks ....players are starting to feel comfortable throwing him the ball on the roll

His catching has improved lately but we got killed on the glass while he was in.

Biz had 8 rbds in 28 minutes....i totally understand your point but i think it has alot more to do with the fact that we usually have Biz in there when we play our small lineup...and we always get out rebounded when we have that lineup in bc Biz is our only big man...and 6'8 isnt that much of a " big man " anyway

I'm loving Biz a lot more than I thought I would, yeah you're right he seemed like a bust in pre season.. Bismack has a lot of potential..I like to compare him to Ibaka, but that's the go-to comparison but if Biz ever reaches the level of Ibaka right now (like mid range wise) he'll be able to average a good 15 combined with his athleticism. & that was only about offense, his defense is already great for the time he gets.

On a side note, he's obviously loved by his teammates. Every time the guy does something well, the bench erupts. They want this guy to succeed, and he seems to be getting better.

I'm glad to see Biz get more time. He really needs it so he isn't just having a bunch of ideas bounce around his head. (JGib's playing vs. thinking comment is completely on point.) A guy like BB needs to be set loose a bit. So what if he misses a rotation or misses a guy from time to time? That's not any worse than him spending too much time in indecision trying to figure out who he should cover.

Also, loving seeing more dunks. Even if he misses it, there's a pretty good chance he's drawing a foul.

Enjoying the play from Biz. The finger wag certainly made me grin.
Biggest factor I feel is his rebounding though. As a team we struggle to rebound, and he's doing a decent job of rebounding (especially since we play so much small ball).
Would like to see him post up more, at minimum 2 post ups a game. That way we can continue to see that post game developing and he can do it in-game and get used to scoring.

I've missed the last couple games but in the ones I saw when a Bobcat hit the floor Biz was usually the first to run over and help them up. Biyombo is Cho's first shot in the dark type draft pick. One of those help build a team picks. He just needs time, Cho found a diamond.
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it
