Wanted to bump this thread up as I noticed over the last 2 games, Biz has really seemed to have improved his lateral quickness.
I saw a couple times where he has actually been able to do "defensive slides" and keeps his ass low enough and move his feet fast enough side to side to stay in front of his man.
In the past Biz would :
A: be low in his stance
B: stand up
C: slide his feet
D: get back in his stance
Now its
A: be in good defensive position
B: slide his feet
By not losing the time with the wasted motion, he has been able to guard some 4's this seasons...(super quick 4's with bounce like Griffin will always be a tough cover for him but, Blake is tough for everyone)
I think long term he's best suited as a 5 but, if he continues to improves his lateral quickness and defensive positioning, he will be able to spend some effective minutes as a 4 too.
I really love the development that I've seen from him.
@ Mistachio ..regardless of the fact that Dunlap is starting Biz at Center it doesn't mean he is a center ..he is 6'8 ..and a center on this current team ..but with a true big man Biz is hands down a PF ...just last night he started @ C but guarded Blake ...proof in the pudding ..aside from that my wish has come true ...he is starting and playing well ..averaging 8 and 8 and 2 in last 6...impressed with him ...his offensive game looks better then ever
He's not 6'8 and he also guarded DeAndre
Correct. He's 6'9.5" (according to Draft Express)
But what helps him the most is that he's got a friggin 7'6.16” wingspan.
That is absolutely massive. Very few players ever get that wingspan, although there's some other kid (Noel I think) who apparently has a 7'9 wingspan.
And that more than helps him in that area in terms of size. Add in his athletic ability and he has the ability to compete.
Then again, if Chuck Hayes can play Center, pretty much anyone can.
However I feel the main thing is that as PF there's more switching, more movement and you have to wander out more outside the paint. I prefer for Biz to play with his strengths which is defending the rim. He's not there yet, but he's doing a damn decent job so far. Plus, he's probably one of our best rebounding bigs (which actually really isn't saying much). I don't see him really developing that jumper anytime soon, but I feel if he can develop a solid post game, he'll be more than welcome to challenge these 7 footers and do his job.
In comparison to some other players who have shown to be effective in the post/rebounds
Dwight Howard, 6'10. 7'4.5 wingspan
Kevin Love, 6'9.5". 6'11 wingspan (I have to say 6'9.5 is arguable. I've heard he's shorter than that)
Jason Maxiell, 6'6, 7'3 1/4 wingspan
Alonzo Mourning, 6'10, 7'6 wingspan

Proud Australian Bobcats Fan!!!
Noel has a 7'4 wingspan. Gobert is the one with the 7'9 arms.
Either way, Bismack has better size than Dwight, so if he can play Center, so can Bismack. Doesn't really matter though because Bismack has the ability to play either sloot according to matchups
Give me a break ..he is listed at 6'9 which means he is 6'8 @ best ..and if u watched the game and read thR Charlotte observer ..he guarded Blake the majority of the time
