It's all Mullens fault! KILL HIM!!!
please either trade this idiot or cut him cause i'm tired of him jacking up bad threes killing us every game.
It's all Mullens fault! KILL HIM!!!
I agree. He does. I can't remember the last time I could watch the first 5 minutes of a Bobcats game without facepalming multiple times until he's pulled...
...but aye
Ummm.. I can sure as hell remember for you. Maybe against Portland when he had 12 pts, 12 boards and one of the nastiest dunks in Bobcats history on an All-Star. Or maybe that doesn't do it for you.. how bout against Washington when he posted 27/8.
Or how about two games ago when he posted 19 pts 8 rebounds on 53% shooting?
He's a 4th year player and 23 years old on a really really bad basketball team. These 9 loses aren't his fault. He has played 113 NBA games... which isn't even 2 whole NBA seasons... give the kid some room to breathe. Again like all of this panic from a 10 game losing streak... it has more to do with your crazy expectations than the players involved.
We have a lot of learning and building to do. Byron Mullens is a big part of that.

It's not ideal, but Mullens is the only offensively competent big man the Bobcats have. They can't get rid of him unless they do something that causes major turnover in the frontcourt, because otherwise they're playing 3-on-5 on offense. The only thing that really makes worried about Byron is that he's a prime candidate to get overpaid by somebody, and his early-season rebounding streak seems to have come to an end (averaging less than 6 a game over the last ten games). They may need to let him play out the season, but if somebody gives him a big deal this summer I'd let him walk. For the time being, he's giving them double-digit points and they need it.
Mullens doesn't suck. He's just incredibly inconsistent. I don't think I've ever watched another player who could go for 20/10 one night and 4/3 the next
Mullens > Bismack
Mullens isn't going anywhere. He does NOT suck. And he IS a part of our future. Get over the hate, honestly. You want Diop in the game instead? Warrick? Thomas? Adrien? I don't. Mullens is way more productive. Most of the time I want Mullens in there ahead of Haywood and Biyombo. Bis doesn't even know how to score outside of the circle under the rim. Just because Byron shoots and misses threes doesn't mean he's a terrible player. He's learning. Same thing on the defensive end. He's learning. The whole team needs to learn how to play better defense because right now we're awful.
Mullens doesn't lose games for us. It's a team effort. If he was a detrimental to our teams production I can guarantee you he wouldn't be on the court. Dunlap knows every stat surrounding this team that's known to man. There's a reason why he's starting.
Couple things to remember:
-He's leading our team in rebounding.
-He's 5th on the team in scoring.
-We acquired him for a 2nd round pick.

It depends, or at least it should, on how the summer goes. Most of the highly-rated draft prospects are bigs, and it makes no sense to give Mullens a big contract while trying to simultaneously develop Rookie Big X and Bismack. If he only gets mid-level type offers, or is amenable to taking a big one-year salary ($9mil/1yr) to be used as a trade chip? Sure, keep him around. If he gets offered $36 million over four years by someone? I hope to God that Cho's smart enough to force a sign-and-trade for a draft pick or a vet on a short contract.
