He averages almost 14 ppg playing 26 mpg, and that's with shooting mediocre from the floor. One more better look per night and a couple of more minutes, and he could be a fairly efficient 17 ppg that scores without dominating the ball. I was actually thinking 5 rbs a game, but 4-4, 4-3 of any mix and good d would be fine. As long as 16-17 ppg were through the flow of the game and not forcing shots, that would be beautiful for any team.

He's also getting to the line at a very high rate, which is a valuable tool. He looks to be top 30-40 at the moment, but playing a good bit less than most the people above him.

And we may get the Portland pick in 2013, so I dont see any reason to trade Hendo for another 1st which is going to be in that #20 range at best.
It's not as simple as that. If we don't trade him, we either have to resign him or risk losing him to another team who offers more money than we're willing to give.

I value a ~#20 pick more than nothing.

It is as simple as that. I dont mean to let him walk for nothing. I mean to resign him. JT is nowhere near ready to do what Hendo does at this point.

Neither guy is your starting 2-guard if Kemba and MKG are sticking around, though. You need a headline scorer - Kemba isn't that guy, and Kidd-Gilchrist is raw on offense and is going to be best used as a high-level utility guy in the mold of Kirilenko, Deng, and Iguodala. Jeff Taylor is cheap, competent bench help who's welcome to stick around for as long as he doesn't need a huge payday. Paying Henderson starter money(which he very well may get) doesn't make sense long-term, and the team doesn't have the depth to get rid of Mullens(also due a payday) at this point, so cashing in on Henderson now makes the most sense. Getting a half-way decent draft pick or a rotation big locked into small money would be ideal.

If you can do a straight up Hendo for Derrick Williams, I say do it immediately. You can go back to starting taylor for now and play the Kemb/Sessions back court more minutes.

Williams isn't good value. He's not doing much with his minutes at all. He's a tweener who doesn't appear to do anything particularly well. At least Henderson can get you some buckets and hustle play.

Minnesota wants more for him, it's why he's still on the roster despite not being in the rotation. If Henderson had a higher ceiling they may entertain it, but I don't think that's a workable trade. If it's on the table, though, I say go for it, because he's cost controlled for a few more seasons and could wind up giving you what Jeff Green gave OKC before he fell off a cliff in Boston. If not, Henderson was replaceable anyway. Also, having Williams as another stretch four gives you the flexibility to let Mullens walk should he get any sizable contract offer this summer. Can't get tied up in long-term contracts for marginal supporting players.

People just need to realize that Henderson is not a star. IMO, he is not even a 2nd or 3rd option on most teams. On most teams, he is a solid 6th man/role player/bench player. We need to get what we can get for him and move on. His presence on the roster is not going to make or break this team. I think that is obvious by the fact we were playing our best basketball when he was injured. That tells me all I need to know.

Exactly what most have said... Henderson isn't worth keeping for what he would cost us and it'd be better to get something for him before it comes to us getting nothing out of it.
