and before someone posts the argument about wingspan being more important, i disagree. wingspan is equally important but height/size is just as important. the shorter you are the better visual lines a taller opponent has and it makes a huge difference.
Check his 3-point shooting stats. He's actually a good 3-point shooter to a fault because it keeps his big body away from the basket.

He's only 6'7" to 6'8", but the flipside argument is that a small guy with big length is generally going to be faster/quicker and better coordinated than a big guy with the same length.

CAN he adequately defend a 6'10" big?? That IS the question with Bennett. Good length and good muscle/build is a good start.

I must add the Bennett's numbers have dipped lately. Perhaps opponents are doubling him now??

SWedd and other guys who watch a lot of college ball...

Could Otto Porter be a 4 in the NBA or is he a 3 all the way? I absolutely love his game but right now he seems to be a little frail. And he could likely be had with the Portland pick or maybe just a tad higher.

Either way, I wouldn't mind picking him up to come off the bench for MKG (who is struggling with foul trouble right now anyways).

I don't usually make it a point to catch too many Georgetown games, but I've seen Otto a few times flipping through the channels when there are a lot of games on.

Porter is actually a similar player to MKG, but obviously in a bigger role on a lesser team. He has no range on his jumper, but is a nice athlete with good defensive instincts, can hit the boards, run in transition, and score off straight line drives. A lot of that adds up (to me) to be a prototypical wing in the NBA, a lot of it to do with the lack of mass which you alluded to.

He's the type of wing people love to watch because he's all over the place doing a little bit of everything. In a vacuum, I'd love to have him on the team because I don't think you can ever have too many guys like that. But I don't think we have much of a use for him. As a bench player he doesn't really add much that we aren't already getting from either MKG or Jeff, so I'd rather take a chance on a big

Mike Moser came back from injury and might be eating into his touches a little.

Helllllllllllllllll no. He'll be a 2/3 in the NBA. I guess it's possible to play 4 if he ate 10,000 calories a day but he'd still be an average 4 whereas if he improved his handles and shooting he'd easily be in consideration as best 2 in the draft. But like Swedd said, he's just a hustle, constantly moving 3 right now.

I watched Noel play the other night in the KY game and he is really skinny. You can put Biz on a Dwight Howard but not Noel.

I don't think he is going to add anything to our offense but he is still my first choice among prospects. We need big guys. The only guy on our roster likely to be around by the time we are good is Biz. We also have the worst D in the league.

I say we take Noel and just assume we are going to suck one more year. One of the polished guards could take us out of the Wiggins race, but Noel won't have that impact his first year. So we have two prospects that don't project to play all that well together in Noel and Biz, who cares. If one of them develops a bit problem solved. If not one could play with the starting unit and another with the backup. You always need a rim defender in the game, two guys that can do it is not a problem.

We need a big that can score in the paint. Then get a big rebounding shot blocking PF/C

Id hold off on a big with our first pick and go SG

The fact that anyone even has to argue if Noel is better than Biz takes him right off my radar. We don't need another skinny shot blocker who chucks the ball at the rim. We need a rebounding machine who can hold position against his man and punish the defense with low post scoring if their guys are trying to cheat and hang around on the perimeter. I'm actually think Bennett is the best big we can get. I was really wrong about him. I've watched quite a bit of film on him this week and he is gonna be a barkley throw back type of ass kicker in the pros! I still think we can't afford to pass up muhammed or mclemore, but we need to package the portland and detroit picks or whatever non core players in takes to move up from the portland spot to land bennett as well.

Dude just watch him play he's way better than Biz. These people on this forum are brainwashed into thinking Biz is a decent player. This guy is a shot blocking machine, very good passer for a big man and he can also steal the ball and run he court very good for a big man. Yes he is raw offensively but wasn't AD considered raw offensively? Noel can already score better than Biz.

I think someone is forgetting the difference in competition between college and the NBA

    Default 2013 lottery big men

Anthony Davis was a guard his entire life who didn't grow until his last year of high school. So he has perimeter skills in handling the ball, passing and shooting, which were good enough to earn a college scholarship without his height.

Raw is not the word to describe him, I think getting used to his new body and refining his high level skill set for a big more accurately describe him.
