Olynyk is averaging 18.5 points on just 10.5 shots per game in only 25.3 minutes a night. Last night he scored 26 points with only 9 shot attempts and threw in 5 assists for good measure. Didn't miss a single shot or free throw. Kind of sounds like the offensive skill/efficiency we've needed in a big for a long time.

He's 7'0", but due to his poor length and tremendous mobility I see him as more of a PF/"4"/"smaller" big.......

No thanks to Olynyk. He's a less athletic version of Mullens. WAAAAYYY less athletic.

I would counter that he is more mobile, a little stronger, and simply has a better scoring touch. Your turn.

Mully who spends more time in the post.

Dunno about you, but I think that'd be a pretty damn good player.

Havent seen him play a whole lot but is a Pau Gasol comparison fair? 7'0 PF ith range not the strongest but can get it inside and rebound?

To me, he looks like he is on track to be physically stronger than Gasol through the years. He doesn't have Pau's length, but I think he moves much more fluidly than Gasol does.

Mobility and scoring touch: Those are the things that strike me about Olynyk. He is so efficient, and he gets his offense within the flow of the team concept, based on what I've seen. I'm not sure he's much of a rebounder at this point, which is concerning given his size.

The other guy mentioned Mullens. I think he has something psychologically that Mullens lacks.

As far as an NBA comparison for Olynyk, I dunno. Against BYU he looked like a young, healthy Bill Walton! He looks very comfortable in both the high post and the low post.....

You guys are much more in tune with the college basketball world than I am, so my question is this.

From an athleticism standpoint, would you guys consider Bennett a poor NBA athlete, an average NBA athlete, a good NBA athlete or a phenomenal NBA athlete?

All I've seen are highlights, but he does look like an interesting player.

I wish I could see more of him. It seems impossible to catch UNLV on TV or even find the Runnin' Rebels highlights on Sportscenter.

I would guess a good NBA athlete. He's only 6'7" but he gets the ball up at the rim really fast, which probably has to do with tremendous length as much as explosiveness. No doubt he rocks the rim.

Interesting indeed. I don't know if there is anyone like him in the league. It's like someone took Jason Maxiell or Jeff Adrien and added to them the skills of Kyle Korver, Steve Novak, or Ryan Anderson.

A.B. honestly looks like more of a potential star than Zeller or Noel. But there is always a risk with a 'tweener like Bennett if he doesn't have supreme talent/drive. At least with Noel/Zeller you know you are getting a solid rotation big who fits the NBA mold.

i know you are an old man so i assume you saw walton play. if you did, i wouldn't argue with you just based on lack of facts of olynyk. but my question is are you sure and how much like walton? just a smidge, extremely poor mans version or dead wringer?

(Laughing) I bet I could still take you in the post, Chef.

But seriously I've only seen Walton highlights for the most part. I did catch him on tv in the mid-80's as an old Celtic.

There was a famous game when Walton shot something like 14-14 for UCLA in the final four. That's what Olynyk looked like in the one game against BYU. He even has the hippie hair and headband thing going.

So I'd say Olynyk was a dead ringer for Walton against BYU, but is generally a very poor man's version. He looks like he belongs in an NBA rotation. His passing, touch, and comfort in that high post is what reminds me of Walton, along with the goofy hairdo.

I'm not sure who I would compare him to among more modern players. I could see him dropping 18 points a night in the league at MAXIMUM potential. Probably more likely 15 points in his best season IF he develops and gets opportunities. IF.....
