22 for 62 from 3 point land in his career. Around 35%. If he didn't have that weapon, I would not be so high on him. It must be noted this is the first year he's played a lot.
You have some legitimate concerns. I think of Olynyk as mobile and coordinated for a big, but I guess that is not the same thing as having speed and quickness.
As I've mentioned before, he's one of these guys who was a point guard in early high school and then sprouted like crazy to turn into a big man. I think he has guard-like offensive feel. He passes really well from what I've seen.
Can he do these moves against real talent?? That is a concern. He put up some great numbers against Baylor, if memory serves.
No, he does not look long at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he measures with an 8'10 reach and a 7'1" wingspan. But he DOES look bulky to me. I think he could be a 4/5.

Thant sort of thing really pisses me off ... and yet it's becoming so prevalent with draft prospects. You have 4s like Bennett that want to be 3s, you have 5s like Drummond wanting to be stretch 4s or even 3s ... it's as though hard work, playing with power and being tough in the post is only for those players who don't have the physical gifts of the top prospects.
If Bennett was more concerned with playing as a POWER forward, with being TOUGH in the post and BOXING OUT for rebounds then he would be a far better prospect. His athletic gifts and his shooting range would then compliment a genuine foundation of power forward play. Instead he (I'm using him as an example rather than simply picking on him ... ish) uses transition-defence as a chance to take a breather and then when in position just doesn't show much interest, let alone desire, to defend.
The reason for picking (oh yea ... making an example of) him is that he plays with such power, explosion and desire on Offence that the contrast to his defensive efforts is so stark it puts me off him. If he wants it, he could be a good, maybe very good, 4 in the NBA. I think Veteran_Picksetter & others are right to be high on his potential, and realistic in seeing his faults, but I need to see him want it on both ends of the court before I'd spend a top 5 pick on him.

Sorry to focus on Olynyk and Bennett so much, but what I see there are two guys who suddenly need to focus on defense and rebounding for the rest of the season to show the NBA that they mean business.
Thanks VP. If I'm still awake, I'm gonna try and catch the big KO tonight. Speaking of him, do you notice him making many threes from close to NBA range? The against Loyola Marymount that I saw, seemed like he tip toed the college line for three.
This is a kind of cliche comparison, but he really does remind me of Pau. I'm loving Olynyk thought.
