The biggest problem I have with his contract (as it relates to CLT) would be the 3rd year. Right now, Cho has done a masterful job of only taking on salary for the next 2 seasons: Sessions & Gordon both come off the books after 2014. Every other player will either still be on a rookie deal, has some other team paying the bulk of his salary (Haywood), or we can use our one amnesty (Tyrus). Going into 2014's free agency, we'll have two more draft classes (presumably with lottery talent) on our team and crazy cap space. We'll have almost enough for 2 max FA's (not that we would actually sign 2 max guys, just that we would have that kind of money). You get Amare and you would have to subtract $23.4 million from our cap space right off the bat. I suppose you could gamble that somebody might be interested in his expiring contract at that point, but I'd rather not take the risk. I'd rather just have MKG, two more good draft classes, and enough money to throw at 3 really talented young guys with huge upsides that want to play with the other young talent we'd have on the roster by then.

Would absolutely PASS on Mr. Stoudemire. Too much to lose(cap room), Not much to gain.. maybe if he's in an amnesty situation and they foot most of his bill, sure..there is still gas left in his tank. I am sure Cho wants to build a young nucleus with the Bobcats though. Amare has an immaturity that he brings with him too.

I mean if we could get him for Diop + Tyrus + someone.....yeah I don't see why not. It would be something to at least consider.

By all accounts we could have/can, and we turned it down.

another perfect example of why we need an anti-thanks button

It would only be worth it if he doesnt get injured but I dont want to take the risk with that. Lets play it safe and smart and not take on that kind of cap suicide. I like how this team is coming along. No need to make a quick fix trades.

Amare has the worst contract in the league. I would much rather amnesty Thomas and move on. Stoudemire's production and health are on the decline and taking on his contract would definitely hinder our future plans and what we want to do here.

Simply because Bobcats would become fun as hell to watch with Amar'e and Kemba off the pick and roll.

    Unfortunately, Kemba can't, so no.
prepare yourselves. i am going to go 100% pro kemba here.

i would LOVE to see amare here for 2 reasons. reason 1: i think he can still be the pre-melo amare. and if he is, he is a top 5 offensive big and top 15 player.

reason 2: actually a more important reason. i would love to see for sure how kemba does as a P&R point guard. i have stated many times this is probably my main hang up against him being the set in stone starting pg of the future. however, it is completely unreasonable to judge him when he has a hodgepodge of crappy bigs and completely raw bigs to work with. having a player like amare (assuming reason 1 is correct) would definitively answer what kind of pg kemba walker is.

    however:

i would HATE to see amare here because his contract will be roughly 1/3 or more of the salary cap AND he could play us right into the later half of the lottery which would ruin the rebuild. and if i am wrong about 1 or 2, he would be worse than having tyrus and his contract around.

and if i were jordan, who actually pays the bill, i would rather risk unprotected sex with an atlantic city hooker than take on his money and uninsured contract.

I vote no. Getting old. Relies on athleticism. What others have said.

He wouldn't make us a sure fire contender and could potentially set us back. Not worth the risk.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
