As much as I hate to think that Hendo is the problem, the more that I'm watching his play closely, the more I think we need to move him. He is a starting calibre young SG that can be an asset to several NBA teams, but has become repetitive for what we have on our roster. I am now seeing how 3 players with similar styles (Kemba, Henderson and MKG) can have an ill-affect to a team. We need a knock-down true shooter at the 2 versus another slasher. This team hit its' skid once Henderson came back and that sucks because he's one of my favorite players. If Henderson can be the centerpiece of a trade that nets us a 24-27 year old athletic true PF, we need to pull the trigger. If not, then if we grab Shabazz or Mcclemore we could move him on draft night. Granted our problems are more than just Henderson, but I think it's time to cash in our chips on him while we still can.

Dunlap needs to be fired.
Its not working out

Which part? Kemba, Byron, Biz and even Tyrus showed great improvement over the prior season (Tyrus might have been more of a change of coaching scenery than coaching itself). That's working out.

What seems to me to not be working out is our defensive strategy that allows the weakside three point shooter way too much time/space. It seems that we cannot swing to cover that nearly enough to disrupt it or cut it off and whereas this might work among NCAA teams, NBA guys knock down these shots.

And we don't feed into the post nearly enough. To me, this is NOT an issue of our bigs but our smalls not feeding the ball in there (most times not even looking to try to). In our last home game, it seemed like we were like 75% successful on scoring if the ball simply went into the low post .... issue was, we nearly never looked to get it in there. Hearing Dunlap talk, this seems to be what he's preaching but we are not getting it on execution.

And I like Taylor a ton but he needs to shoot the damned ball when he's open and go hard to the rack when he gets a lane. He does neither and that's probably a psychological hump but it's a liability right now.

I got no problem if we play Diop for a change of pace and he's been making some good contributions on defense. But to bury Haywood on the bench for consecutive games seems like stubbornness and I don't think it helps. He's not an offensive help but he seemed to bring more stability to the floor earlier in the year.

To me, it's far too early to think that the coaching experiment has not worked. On many levels, it has/is working out. Just not being translated to the win column. I am still hoping for 26 wins but that's looking far less likely now. And I do get the frustration w/ the team being out of the game in the first quarter - but no Tyrus, no Mully, Taylor in a funk, Sessions settling to earth, we have a lot less to work with than earlier in the year.

How is Dunlap going to deliver "player development" if the players are too demoralized to play hard for most of the game?

We actually do play hard.

Yal must have short memories because we've only been blown out 5 times or so. Last year we shouldn't have even bothered to show up.

Why are people insisting the reason we are losing can be simplified to Dunlap, Henderson, or any other one factor?

It's a combination of things. That win streak we had earlier this year was a mirage. Henderson wasn't part of the offense, MKG was playing well, and Kemba was playing out of his mind. That couldn't last forever. The team isn't trash this year, but it wasn't designed to win games. We are competing and that's what matters most. I have mixed feelings about Dunlap for the long run, but if we fire him right now we run the risk of turning our coaching position into a revolving door, which isn't good for business. Let's wait for the end of the season on that. I also think we need to get Henderson more shots if we want to trade him. His return value probably isn't as high as it could be right now. I do agree we have too many guards but this is the same roster we started the season with minus two guards (Higgins, Carrol) plus two bigs (Adrien, Warrick). Don't act surprised now.

its frustrating but not near as bad as last year to me. we've played some really good teams, teams on a roll and blown a handfull of games during this stretch. defending the 3 has been my main frustration...i mean the volume of shots going in and the high % is ridiculous.

Were losing because we are devoid of talent, simple really. Not Dunlap's fault, or Henderson's or Diop's man boobs or Dunlap's zone. Simply our players are not as good as others.

ahem...being tired is not the same as being bothered. I got "tired" in those other seasons too. Instead of watching every second and staying tuned for the after show I'm now more apt to cut out with about 3-4 minutes left like last night (I missed the great "comeback").

The effort has been there against the better teams (Heat) but then we look like a D League team vs some of the worst ones (Nyets). I want to see a more consistent effort.

Devoid of talent. Even a high school team can run a competent defense. We don't. No one EVER covers for the big when there's penetration and some of our guards/wings will just stand there watching a shot another teammate will take...leading to a fast break on the other end. If we didn't win a game but played around 18th defense I could take it a lot more...but to look totally clueless on the D side is wearing.

I can't think of any season where our D was this bad other than last year.
