what about Byron?
since they both are FA We could go after both just asking if we would enough cap room cause I know we will have alot of room.
If Yes & we get the blazers pick Draft:Shabazz & Plumlee and will be ready for a playoff run next season. Also let Hederson walk unless we trade him.
Our Roster would be:
PG:Kemba/Sessons
SG:Shabazz/Gordon
SF:MKG/Taylor
PF:Millisap/Plumlee
C:Jefferson/Biz/Haywood

Not sure if we will have the cap for both. Plus, if the Jazz can't set the world on fire with these two, what makes you think they will help us take the next step? My guess is that at least one of them will be traded and therefore will be re-signed by their new team. I wouldn't mind bringing Jefferson in and substituting Hickson for Millsap. I just love Hickson's game when he is playing up to speed

I don't think it's possible to sign both Millsap and Jefferson, unless you meant Elijah or John Millsap. We currently have $40 million dollar on next year's pay roll and (correct me if I'm wrong) that means we got about $18 million to spend, but you probably knew that already.
You also need to add the salaries of our draft choices, I'm not certain it's having an influence on FA money but I'm sure Jordan doesn't want to go over the luxury tax.
Remember, we always have a Thomas amnesty in our back pocket if we have targets out there that we really like.

Exactly. We'll probably have a similar pick to MKG this year, so that slot would cost about $4.6 million next season, so there goes another big chunk of your salary cap space.
Cho seems to be positioning more for the 2014 free agent class than this season's. All his moves have been made in a way that avoided taking on salary past that year: signing Sessions to a 2-year deal that ends in 2014, taking on Gordon's contract that has a (almost certain to be exercised) player option for 2014, etc. The only exception was Haywood, but the Mavs are paying most of that salary anyway.
In 2013, I think you're just going to see some draft pick(s) and free agents on 1-year deals added to the team. 2014 is when you'll see us making some runs at guys on the market. That's probably for the best anyway. You want to be as attractive as possible to potential FA's, and with an extra draft class under our belt, we'll be more attractive in 2014 to get guys we want.
I don't get why in the fuck people keep wanting to just throw Byron away. Makes no sense. I get some of you dislike him for whatever reason but he's the team's leading rebounder and a rather capable young guy. You don't just find 7 footers like him all the time. If we sign Millsap/Jefferson than Byron will still be on the team...it will just make our bench even stronger by having a player like him as a backup.

I did some googling; you are allowed to get over the salary cap if you sign a player acquired through the draft. So there is some space to sign someone this offseason, but I agree with CB on what Cho's strategy is going to be/should be. Hopefully he'll make some exceptions for quality players (such as Al Jefferson).
