Reportedly Rudy Gay for Jared Dudley and future 1st rounder. If we were going to give up a future first for Cousins, then why not at least consider it for Gay. We need a proven 20 ppg wing scorer just as much as we need a big. I also think offering Hendo and some form of draft pick is better than Dudley.

Looooook at that contract. Hes going to be eating up cap space.
I would love to see that happen. Surprised the grizzlies don't want Beasley also. He's only 23.
No thanks. Going from eye test vs. looking at advanced stats I can't believe that his (lack of) efficiency warrants such a big ass contract.

I would bet that Cho has called about Gay. But I'm sure he would press for the Griz to give us a pick for taking on that contract.

Agreed. Gay may be the teams leading scorer but he is also a liability at times. 40% fg this season is the worst in his career. He seems to be regressing. We have our future sf on the roster and he needs minutes. Giving them to Gay may get us 5-10 more wins but that accomplishes nothing for us in the long term.
This has to be heartbreaking for Memphis fans. The team was an 8 seed two years ago, 5 seed last season and currently sits in 4th place. Everything points to them being a serious contender in the West for several more seasons. Yet new ownership is putting the luxury tax at the top of their concerns and willing to risk all their recent progress for cost relief.
If Gay played SG, pf or C I would say get in there but he would just eat up mkg's minutes. He would also take all out CAP flexibility away for less production than a contract of that size should.

Let's not argue semantics. MKG and Gay would be more than capable of playing together on the wings at the same time. They'd actually be a pretty awesome match.
But there's no way I'm eating that contract. Especially if we have to give up Hendo AND a first to do so.
Agh, I would pass. As good as Gay is, I want a perennial All-Star caliber player if we are going to pay what Gay's contract entails. I hate to say it, but I think I would rather have Cousins if we had to make a major trade and give up valuable assets.
