Scott Skiles? Avery Johnson? Mike Brown? S. Van Gundy?

Seeing that Dublap is here for player development, my thinking is that his tenure here won't be longer than 3 years. For a post-Dunlap hiring, which of the coaches (see thread title) would you want in Charlotte? Other suggestions encouraged; I don't see Sloan being hired, but I'll entertain arguments. If you think Dunlap will stay by the time all of our pieces are in place for a run, I'll listen to that too.

Should we cut bait by seasons end and get a coach while he's available?

I personally like Scott Skiles (recently fired from Mil) in CHA because of his attitude and tough-minded approach; I would cut bait.

Let me know if this was already discussed on a forum.

Smiles hasn't been fired, he and Mil have chosen to go separate ways. Also, 3 years is a long time I am pretty sure by then there will be a whole different set of coaches available so speculation is silly until we actually don't have a coach.

In that case, I'll make this non-silly. Dunlap fulfills his entire season of brilliant player development (more than one year of player development is just excessive) and he "parts ways" with the Bobcats. In that scenario, we have experienced NBA coach candidates to choose from...might as well make a vacancy before they get hired by someone else. I caught myself giving a "3 year" PC answer to avoid a Dunlap debate. But might as well jump in since it makes no sense to think about coaching plans 3 years away.

How 'bout we let Dunlap actually not be here (or have legit news that he's on the outs) before we start talking about this mythical replacement? Because player development does take more than one year and that's what Dunlap was hired to do, so unless crazy things happen, I'd get used to the guy.

And multiple years of development? Glad to hear everyone's enthused about the world's first 3 year NBA basketball camp. I'm sure kemba will be thrilled to enter his 3rd, or even 4th year in the NBA with some player development bulletin board material while Doc Rivers is giving pep talks and setting playoff goals in the locker. If you've heard of this stuff with the pacers before their turnaround or OKC (the building plan we're modeled after)..I'll listen. I have never heard of 3 year basketball camp, and yes, that's what it is.
