I'd also add, the same state doesn't mean anything in regards to regional pride. Some cities have such a rivalry that they would never pull for the other city's team.

Plus there's the whole being able to attend a game thing. You're more connected to a team you invest money in and can attend games regularly. Sacramento citizens aren't traveling many hours to watch a game in LA. It's like driving down to Orlando just to watch a game. There's just less of a connection if its not your community, doesn't matter if its the same state.

Hell, even the same city. If New York lost the Mets, I guarantee those fans aren't gonna pull for the Yankees. Same with cubs and white sox fans. Even within 8 miles, if Carolina ever disappeared from earth (stop dreaming abc'ers), you would never find a true UNC fan then pulling for dook, just because they are right there.

You guys must be pulling my leg I know you understand what I'm talking about. It's not that significant that 1 team out of 4 is leaving California.
Like SWedd said, California is most of the American west coast. It's the same as treating everything on the east coast south of Delaware as one place. (Seeing as I'm from Connecticut, I actually do that anyway. You're all hicks. And give the Whalers back, damnit.)

California is bigger than North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia combined.

You can drive from one end of South Carolina to the other in three hours. It's 1.5 from Sacramento to the nearest other NBA team.

When you get to places that huge, it's a little more than "welp there are other teams in the state, support one of them"
Doesn't matter still the same state

I think it'll be a wash. If anything, this will help the Clippers, as people that would follow the Lakers probably already do so or they just don't like the team.

What people are saying about the state is true though: it's massive and very culturally diverse. I'm sure there will be plenty of people that begin to follow Phoenix, Portland, Utah, and stick with Seattle. Maybe we'll score a fan or two looking to get on the way up.

No, I'm saying it makes a difference when that one state is bigger than the three closest to Charlotte combined. It seems awfully silly to argue that the distance isn't important just because it's the same state. But whatever works for you. Not going to argue about it anymore

Love how this topic, of all topics, became controversial.

Okay I live in Durham and it takes me 90 mins to get to charlotte. The warriors are also 90 mins away from sac town. So what's the difference?

Okay people live in Chico and it takes them 90 minutes to get to sacramento. The warriors are 3 hours away from chico. So what's the difference?

You want those people to have to drive 6 hours round trip to catch a game? It's the same state though, right?

In just about that same time you could drive from Charlotte to Charleston.... and back. It's the same state though, right?
