Default Team advising from Stephanie Ready?

Note: No shots fired at the current staff.

She has a ton of coaching experience and a successful resume to boot (on multiple playing levels). Some of the shit she says you would never think about unless she brought it up. If you've heard her as a color commentator or giving her insights in the post-game show, you know what I'm talking about. We don't know for sure if Dunlap knows these things; he did coach under Karl; but some things you only learn from head-coaching experience and she has plenty of it from both College and WNBA. Not everybody has these shocking revalations which involve such subtle details...but make such a huge difference...it's really just "trade-secrets" conceived from the lightbulb going off. No garunttee that every coach will pick up on them.

"I notice how the Bobcats struggle more at home; this could be because the pre-game throughout the day is different on the road than at home. It could help the Bobcats if the team stayed in a downtown hotel the night before and mirror the day they have on the road to the one they have at home. I had one player when I coached at Greensborogh (or some some school that sounded like that) who played exellent on the road...but struggled to make and buckets at home. I decided to change his at home routine, and I noticed a dramatic improvement."

Ok, she wouldn't bring that up if she was sure that was already the case...and shit...it's probably true...so much of performance in any field of work is based on subtle, strcutering in enviornment as research is proving that more and more...where you have so many coaches in today's sports like Rex Ryan, where the philosophy is "a little attitude and elbow grease gets the job done." Details go into performance...you can only learn them over time or from experienced sources.

It wouldn't hurt to have her at least be somewhat of a "suggestion box" and give Dunlap (an inexperienced head coach) things to think about.

    My final thought: Why not?

Plus she is stunning. Her husband is a lucky man.

    I heard that segment.

    She can be our Whoopie!

Seriously, I'd be fine if they had made her head coach. Sharp as hell in more ways than one.

We suck whether at home or away. It just suck more to lose like this at home. I noticed that Kemba tends to play better at home though. I like her analysis though. She makes decent sticking points and tend to really care about the output that the Bobcats put on the court.

I am kinda shocked about one thing. Either she is extremely loyal, or Jordan is paying her great, but I'm surprised none of the bigger networks have swooped in to steal her away.

We all know how talented, smart, charming, and beautiful she is - you telling me she wouldn't get more ratings than Linda Cohn, or Michelle Tafoya, or Heather whatsherface?

She could probably nail some more insightful interviews, as I'm sure she could disarm any player with a smile, and get them to admit things.

But I'm glad she's ours to keep, maybe she can take ol Stevie's broadcasting duties when he retires.

She does some work for TNT in the playoffs, but with her having two young children I'm sure that has a big influence in her decision to remain with us. Charlotte is a great place to raise a family and the Bobcats gave her a big break, so I'm sure those are factors.

Maybe once the kids get older - like school age, she may go chase the money. But who's to say her husband isn't already doing well? Maybe she doesn't need it....

She could easily replace Del in terms of being an insightful color commentator for the fans. Obviously Del is an icon in Charlotte sports history...but who wasn't blown away by her job filling in for Del?

She brings way more to the table as color commentator than play-by-play although she has the resume to do a nice job inthat position as well.

Anyone notice she basically made one of the assistant coaches look stupid...it was a half-time interview, something along the lines of leaving Josh Smith one on one and Stephanie asking "how are you going to pull that off?" The guy didn't have an answer. Why is this guy still employed?

I didn't see the interview, but often times an assistant coach may not personally agree with the Head Coach's decision on specific coverages. It is however they assistant's job to tote the company line, which sometimes is creates an interview with "no response".

Kudos to Steph though, she calls it like she sees it.

One of the holes in our defensive trapping zone is it doesn't always prioritize the threats on the other team and our bigs at times seem either confused (Biz-raw, Warrick-no training camp w/ us) or slow to react (Diop-fat/Haywood-old). That is why we tend to get abused when the opposing team has 2 or more quality bigs that can pass, dribble and shoot from outside 8 feet.

She makes some interesting and accuarate observations, but I have a bias because she was on the staff with the Greenville D-League team and was the one that cut one of my best friends back in the day for no reason... And I mean no reason. So, I have a hard time giving her a lot of credence when I hear her talk X's and O's. Not saying I'm right, but I know she was wrong at one point.
