99% of the trades involve us sending expiring players (usually with + value in terms of cap space, but - value on the court) and draft picks (to compensate for the - value) in return for decent players on big contracts and possibly one good player. It's no secret that the only valuable assets we have right now are cap space, expiring contracts, and draft picks. It's also no secret that any player coming from another team is going to likely be better than what we currently have. But other teams may want to get rid of them because of their massive contracts (Rudy Gay for example).
I don't see Jordan stamping approval a deal where we have an excessive contract dumped on us...not in MJ's new ownership philosophy and not after we already took a cap hit from BG. Who said you can't throw one of our two first round picks (our own as well as Detroits protected 1st if I'm not mistaken), or even MKG, for a fairly priced 2nd tier player with a bench player to boot? We went down this contract-eating path before in Larry Brown's final years.

(Not getting into an argument about an MKG trade...just look at it from an asset standpoint.)

99% holds true for computable trades on espn...and I'm not even sure dumping is even allowable on trade machine. But holistically, with our picks or a current upside asset in the mix, more than 1% of the possibilities would involve non-declining assets. For our declining assets, I would rather let those guys contracts expire or get some younger bench scrubs of equal value with less $ invlolved than incrurring excess contract expense.

As far as Williams i think IS more suited to play the NBA 3. If we aimisty TT .. Milsap comes into the picture . Kemba and Love is two damn good pieces to build around . And its no reason a ineup like that couldn;t compeat.
Though D Cuz or another big may be in thair plans. One thing for sure Jordon and Cho wants a scoring rebounder . And Cho isn't going to go after a wore out 2nd rate player to fill that need. and i feel a rookie big in this draft isn't the answer . Cho has said as much .
Sorry about the bolded part, I misread your post.

But I'm 90% sure that Love would feel like he'd be in a better situation on a Minny team with Rubio, Shved, AK-47, and Pekovich. They're just a couple of moves away from being serious playoff contenders. I also have a weird feeling that we will not amnesty Tyrus (certainly not for a Millsap quality player) b/c let's face it, MJ is pretty frugal. Remember his quote about getting his house in order? Acquiring Gay or any other similarly huge contract that results in the rest of the roster being made up of gutter trash brings that down like a house of cards.

Say it was a bad trade. Say you don't like Al Jefferson. Say whatever. But at least acknowledge and respond to the main point of the post (Evans/Cousins/Gay trade [I even set that one up for you... Evan's cousin's gay...get it?]). Whatever.

$10 says someone makes a response alluding to me being "sensitive" or whatever. But the fact is, I like to go to forums to talk basketball and make well-thought arguments. Unfortunately, BCP does not offer that it seems.
didn't mean anything by it, except for the laugh. i have a long enough history on this forum of quality discussion posts and basketball talk to not require a defense. but if you were offended, i meant nothing malicious.

Its my understanding that Cho has this huge, proprietary database analyzing every player in the league. He hired an Ivy league advance scout to catalog probabilities and tendencies, and uses moneyball type statistical analytics.

Knowing how he charts players, there is no way he has Gay valued as worth anything near $19-20M. If he bases his GMing (is that a word) on such a cost/benefit valuation, blowing cap space versus having young talent on rookie deals does not seem to follow his principles.

Unless he is getting back a high first rounder without sacrificing any one of our players on their rookie contracts, it just seems like your typical pre allstar rumor mill getting under way, and the teams speculated to be most likely to trade are the names thrown out there the most.

I know what our philosophy is and this would pretty much go against it, if true. That being said, I think it's also entirely possible that we know just how weak the upcoming draft class is and Cho and Co. figure we can get more out of a player already in the league than what we could get with the pick in the upcoming draft.

Now, where I'm thrown off at is that we're supposedly going after Gay when we should've been going after a young guy on his rookie expiring who has proven himself already and we could make a core player, like James Harden. I know we were rumored to be after him, but IDK...

Big reason why I don't think we're seriously going after Gay unless we get a screaming deal.

Last year the rumor was #2 for James Harden. That's the type of deal I'd be looking to make, not a volume shooting, not much good at anything else except making a ton of money, guy in Rudy Gay

I would assume the two would be playing together in the starting lineup

And in the NBA, if you have an athletic swingman who can dunk, he's got the potential to be HUGE.
Just look at Rudy Gay, MAX CONTRACT, and he's a Supersta...oh wait
