Why is Tyrus being benched?

If they aren't going to play him and can't move him in a trade, than I see no point in keeping him on the team. Just amnesty him and get over with it.

He's still around because he's useful to ensure that the team hits the salary floor. I figure they'll probably amnesty him this summer in order to make a signing or trade with the cap space.

Amnesty dollars count towards salary floor but, not against the cap. I literally can't explain why he would be on this team next season.

I could understand giving Dunlap a shot to resurrect him but, that time has come and gone it looks like.

I bitched about him pretty much the entire time he was on the floor. I don't think I can say he was the reason we lost there at the end but he was sure a strong contributor.

Don't know if that's "fair" or not since he hasn't been playing...but it is what it is.
