Come on, they weren't chanting for another team, they were chanting for a name change. Very different.

When you have a group of people wearing another team's colors and doing the chants associated with that other team, then they cheering for the other team.

...except it's not an active team, the other franchise using the "Hornets" moniker has declared they're dropping it after this season, and what the people are cheering for is for the home team to change their name. It's like trying to argue that, if the Kings kept the "Kings" moniker and colors when they move to Seattle, fans wearing Sonics gear wouldn't be cheering for the home team. If you're partial to the Bobcats name, fine, I don't care too much about that. However, don't equate advocating a name change to the Yankees/Red Sox "road" games in Miami and Tampa, where 75% of the seats have road fans in them.

I was equally as angry last year when I saw people wearing Carolina Cougars merchandise to cheer on our Bobcats at games last season. It was totally disrespectful because everyone of us true Bobcats fans remembers when MJ bought the team that there was a group that wanted him to change the name to the Cougars.

It was clear that despite the loud cheers when Kemba scored a bucket or Biz got a rebound they weren't cheering for the Bobcats.

I really wish the Michael Jordan would close the door on this group of fans but, he keeps building the Hornets momentum when he says things like he has "definite interest" in the Hornets name. As long as the owner is openly flirting with that other name, I guess we have to expect these type of things.

It would make for a much better statement/boycott if the "Bring Back The Buzz" people were the loudest & most cheerful supporters of the Bobcats team at games, just wearing Hornets apparel, instead of showing ignorance towards anything Bobcats related and being a disturbance of the peace.

There wasn't a louder more antimated cheering section at the game... You may not like the methods but, if you were at the game- I don't think you can dispute where the loudest cheering fans were seated.

What ignorance of anything Bobcats related do you speak of? I would put my Bobcats knowledge up against anyones.

Exactly. The way to win over support for a name change should not be cheering on another team's name (past or present). All I heard was Bee-Fense or Char-Lotte Hor-Nets for the upper half of section 206. Never heard a chant for Kemba after a bucket or MKG after a baseline dunk.

The small group cheering on the Hornets were there to market their desire for a name change and nothing else.

I am all for a name change. The current name Bobcats was for the former owner Bob Johnson. It was his team so it was Bob's Cats (Bobcats). Since it is not his team anymore I will be happy when the Bobcats name goes also.

There was actually a pretty loud "M-K-G" chant started at one point. You sure you were there?
