Not really a great argument here. When someone says quit worrying about the name.

How does this qualify as 'shenanigans', Ziggy?

Did I post the link to the blog entry on my page? Of course! It directly references the goal we've been working at for 3 years.

Nothing (outside of the fact that they seem to be in the extreme minority) is keeping the "'Cats-only" crowd from doing the exact same thing.

I try not to weigh in on much around these parts, because it seems counterproductive. But shenanigans...this is not.

Ehhhhhh whatever. I'm not against the Hornets name coming back at all. I started off as a Hornets fan back in the day and that how I became a NBA fan period. But im also obviously a huge BOBCATS fan.

What I don't like about this whole thing is the protests or "swarms", etc. I mean I H A T E going to games against NY, LA, BOS, Etc. and being surrounded by opponents fans......so when we play the Kings or whatever game that was I wanna hear chants for the Bobcats not the freakin Hornets.

Or else they like the name as it is now and want the whole argument to just go the fuck away?

    Extreme minority indeed.

I've stayed out of this debate because I'm tired of it and also because I had an agreement with JGib about not mass crapping on those who want to stay the Bobcats. This one however ticked me off.

Lol at blaming the being back the buzz movement on charlotte hipsters. People who aren't even fans of either know that the Hornets belong in Charlotte. Much like everybody knows the Only acceptable name for the new Seattle Franchise is the Supersonics

I read the Bonnell write up too and three million $'s isn't that much for a out right name change and if they are polling season ticket holders then to me this finally just got serious. I don't think a name change will really bring in that many more fans over all. But it will re-spark attention in the team atleast for a short time. Like OKC it's up to us to start winning. The games this year have been exciting atleast not some 20-30 point blowout and lack luster unwatchable game play.

I see something here worth building on. I like the effort out these guys on most nights. I still say we need a scoring big and we will be able to battle for a playoff spot. The Hornets name would bring back some old fans and some new interest in the team. The people of Charlotte never really liked the Bobcats name, I think the Charlotte Flight won the open poll didn't it?

I say bring back the buzz
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it

Considering Charlotte's first payout from the new CBA is supposed to be around 20 million, i'd be kind of pissed if they didn't spend 3 to get this done quickly.

My old boss who is one of the smartest businessmen I have ever met and is the Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing for the #1 company in the world in our industry (which is a huge industry and one of backbones on the American economy) has this as 1 of his motto's.

Never ask a public ?, that you don't already know the answer to.

I believe that unless the data turns up the complete opposite of what it looks like, the name will change.

The team needs to cover it's bases and not piss off their current customers and this survey gives them a bullet proof vest against some customers that will be angry.

I can't believe the team would create all this hoopla and all this media attention, just to say.... surprise we are still the Bobcats! Now please buy our merchandise.

You don't open this can of worms, unless you intend to go fishing....

it is a no brainer if you are mj. pay the 3 mil and easily recoup it in new jersey and uniform sales around the board. i am absolutely sure kemba is in favor. everyone around charlotte has been buying his bobcats jersey and so next year they can go back out and buy a hornets jersey.

Umm....why are people assuming that Jordan sees all of the money from Jersey sales? Apparel sales are divided up 30 ways amongst teams.

I've also seen people comment that it's only 3 Million for the name. While that may be true, you're neglecting to add how much it's going to cost for the rebrand(which includes the sunk cost of this recent rebrand of Bobcats gear, new advertising, design costs, the logo etc)..if you don't think THAT's going to be expensive, then look...that's you. But the "Jordan has to rename the team" crowd doesnt realize he's probably better off building up the fervor for the name for at least a few years to see if the rebrand with the gear he already has works...if not..he can always rebrand to the Hornets, it still remains viable. If Jordan rebrands to the Hornets and the team fails to improve and Time Warner continues to look like a ghost town, then what?
