It's not even just about jersey sales. I've heard tons of people say that they wouldn't have anything to do with the Bobcats because of Johnson and that they would gladly come back with a name change. Right or wrong, that seems to be the attitude of a lot of people. I think it can actually help us in free agency too. A lot of these young players are kind of hipsters now. I've seen all kinds of references to the Charlotte Hornets coming back by players on twitter. I think it might actually be "the cool thing" to play here the first few years after the re brand.

I see what you mean. Especially the fact that there will be 3 new teams in the league next year I'm thinking those 3 franchises will have a lot of hype around their name come draft time & next season.

I honestly don't understand getting this worked up over the brand, considering the Hornets have played the last decade in another city and the Bobcats have little to no history to speak of. I think the pinstriped purple-and-teals look better than anything the Cats have ever worn; but it's six of one, half dozen of another otherwise. of course you dont understand if youre just a player fan. the rest of us have been rooting for this team for a long time and will be as long as theyre here no matter whos on the roster. So it means a little more to us

People recognize us for who we are and they've never been able to shake the fact that the Hornets belong in Charlotte, hence all of the countless times we have been called the Hornets as the Bobcats. Come next year, I'll be happy to know it won't be a mistake anymore.

DISCLAIMER: I'm a fan of this team regardless of what happens, but for the sake of meaning, purpose, heritage, and our franchise's future, I truly hope it has already been decided to switch back to the Hornets.
