I know, I know, it's the color of royalty and this it's the Queen City and all but purple just doesn't look good with teal. Teal and navy blue in place of purple would be a good compromise in my book.

Although there wasn't any mention of it, if the name change does go through I just hope and plead we keep the Hugo logo. That is too classic to get rid of. It's so 80s; back when logos actually had some character and personality unlike those of today that are more abstract and just plain boring.
couldn't agree more. thought i was the only one on here with these opinions.

Maybe we can have Dell and Muggsy's jerseys in the rafters (not retired, just honored) along with Bobby Phills's, which I would personally like, and even though it would take GW away from a lot of our all-time leader in different categories, I'd like to have Dell as our all-time leading scorer, and Muggsy our assister and stealer. Just something to ponder.

See I see it like this, no matter what they say.... Those are our records now. Those games took place in Charlotte. I watched them with my own eyes. I'm not letting a greedy owner tell me it belongs to New Orleans because he thought it was a better business environment. I'm saying as far as records go... If it happened in your city, they are yours. Record books be damned. New Orleans can't celebrate Alonzo Mourning, LJ or Muggsy. They had nothing to do with it.

The only reason the Bobcats franchise wasn't the Hornets from the start was because one sleazebag guy wouldn't let it be so. The team name has always basically been "The Charlotte Bobcats But Only Because Hornets Wasn't Available"

If the change does happen, I think they should treat it like the NFL treated the Ravens and Browns. As far as those record books go, Baltimore is treated as an expansion team and it just looks like the Browns took a few seasons off, then picked back up. I don't see much of a reason to not treat this the same way (though the Hornets name thing can make it a bit odd, it could be referred to as "Charlotte" basketball records or "New Orleans" basketball records in the history books).

Like Mustacio, I feel like since it happened here the history belongs here, even if it does turn out to be a Hornets/Bobcats mix. And I'm with you Beagle...I absolutely want Bobby Phils' jersey in the rafters here. Doesn't seem right to me for it to be in New Orleans anymore if they don't want the name.

Sadly...you know thats not how it works. Those awesome attendance records, 530 some wins, 7 playoff appearances, blah blah...All go to New Orleans and this city is stuck with the bobcats failure to build on. I relized that a few yrs ago when Chris Paul and the Buzz made their first playoff run and were the Cinderella story that year. The annoucers talked about the franchises previous playoffs wins...All in Charlotte...So unless we got the actual franchise back We've only got memeories of records and stats.... and the reality of the Bobcats Franchise records
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it

Default STH Survey Regarding Name Change

It seems to me from the survey questions y'all have posted that Jordan is going to go ahead with the name change, he's just trying to figure out the best color combination to rebrand to.

The way the questions are presented doesn't seem that they would generate a more positive response for the Bobcats name in comparison with the Hornets name. Does that seem true to those that took the survey?

I didn't think the questions read that anything was set in stone. In fact, I thought they read more open ended than I expected. They seem to try to gauge a weighting of how much change or remaining the same will have an impact.

Thanks. Although even with open ended questions, they can be phrased in a certain way to engender a kind of response. Like the questions that asked "what does the Hornets name mean to you" and "what does the Bobcats name mean to you," it seems that there is a lifetime of stories to tell of the early Hornets years, the crowds, the players, the environment, the experience, while the Bobcats experience has been filled with frustration and disappointment. Even if you preferred to keep the name, based on that question, the Hornets name would have to have more favorable responses overall.

But maybe they evened it out with other questions. Is there a way anyone can scan the survey and put it up here?

I would be very difficult to scan it as it's fed one question at a time and you cannot go backwards in it. You could snip each question if you were so inclined but it's long enough that you might not be inclined.

As for the questions you mentioned, it's an eye of the beholder thing IMO. If the Bobcats name only means futility or disappointment, then that's what's right for you - but my guess is that folks that "invest" time and money in the Cats or have watched their kids grow up on the Cats don't see it that way by and large. And on the converse, if your last memories of the Hornets are leaving, 3500 fans on hand, Shinn's sex trial, Phills' wreck, the city at war over funding coliseum upgrades/rebuild, Shinn packing up and leaving ... then thems some shitty memories of the Hornets. Again, we all bring to it what we bring to it.

One interesting line of questions was about what name more closely aligned with the city (might have said our other sports teams) - and with our existing LYNX and CATS public transport, the Carolina Panthers ... the cat certainly informs its own answer (IMO) unless you are straining against it.

We'll see, one thing that I think JGibb23 has said that I hope we can all agree upon is .... they have opened the door here, they are taking in input on all sides and we'll all agree with the decision that they make. In the end, it's all about Charlotte Basketball!

In the meantime..... Let's Go Cats!

The Cats are doing due diligence now, but I get the impression that this survey is the last step in that process, not the first. I could be wrong, but I think they already have several paths carved out (stay Bobcats, change to Hornets w/old colors, change w/new colors, etc - all with logos, merchandise ideas and the like) and will use this survey to guide them down one of those paths.

I think the timing of this survey along with New Orleans' announcement this week was likely set up so Charlotte would have the opportunity to change next season if they receive enough information that calls for one. It really doesn't benefit NO to announce the change now, as there's half a season left to sell things. They could have done that after the season. This puts the Hornets name out there now so if Charlotte wants it back, they can execute one of those plans and not lose an entire season of sales should they want to change.

I hope after this is all settled, we will be one united fan base and hopefully everyone gets behind this team...

Even if the side I'm pulling for loses, I will be disappointed but, super impressed that the team really cares about what the community thinks and wants.

The Hornets under Shinn lost touch with the fans
The Bobcats under Bob Johnson were never in touch with the fans..
I think it's clear that the Bobcats under Michael have done a great job of reaching out to the fans.

With the position the team has taken on this rebrand, I will have absolutely nothing to complain about if I end up on the losing side. The team has done right by me and the other name change proponents by doing their "due diligence" and if in the end my side is in the minority and the business case doesn't justify the switch, I will support and accept their decision.

Below is a link to a picture from last nights game where MJ invited one of the "We Beelievers" and his wife into his suite
And discussed if he wanted a name change and then posed for a picture with the guy in the "We- Beelieve" shirt.... Absolutely amazing than an owner would do this, multiply that by one million when the owner is MJ...
