I agree with your thinking and tweeted as much to Bonnell, who shot my conspiracy theory down... But, he also shot me down 3 weeks ago when I tweeted him that Greg Miller had just tweeted that he voted in support of the New Orleans name change... Rick checked his sources and said the vote hadn't taken place..
I tweeted him the leaked logo weeks ago and still nothing...
I find it very curious that the NBA spoke with MJ about this last season, then allowed the Pelicans rebrand in the middle of a season, then allowed the Bobcats to send out a survey specifically asking about the Hornets name on the very next day.
Then the Mayor of Charlotte tweeted last month that he couldn't wait to see people filling uptown to watch the Charlotte Hornets play, then the mayor hints in an article yesterday that he has already had a conversation with MJ telling him that he prefers the Hornets name because it better represents Charlottes history..
I'm sure the Bobcats already have Hornets jerseys designed in the old Teal & Purple & Hornets jerseys in some variation of the current color scheme.
If the surveys support the name change, I think it happens sooner rather than later.

Haha bbtb!![]()
When do y'all think they will release another statement?
Yeah, I was thinking exactly along those lines with the Ravens/Browns saga. I don't see any reason we can't have our records back if we want them. Dell, LJ, Gatt Man, Muggsy, Anthony Frederick (ok, the last one's a stretch),etc. mean so much more to us and mean absolutely nothing to Tom Benson and the folks of NO.
I really hope there's a way to work this out. Don't go bursting our bubble, Ghost!
Also, Scottley, I agree with you. All the contingencies are in place (probably started when they were working on the new Bobcats color scheme) and I think once the surveys are analyzed we'll get an announcement soon thereafter and can finally move forward.

Since the New Orleans team will be the Pelicans next season, if they wanted to be the ones to 'announce' it and get their logo out front & centered, they needed to do it now. Adidas' NBA retail book (2 volumes, each about an inch thick) is usually available to retail outlets in March of each year. The book has pretty much every Official NBA endorsed apparel item in it for the upcoming season (minus draft-day items). Once those logos leave the NBA or Adidas umbrella, they would start getting leaked and go viral pretty quickly. Announcing it in advance of any print house having the logos allows Tom Benson to pick & choose his day of fame. Since the Saints sucked this year, it didn't surprise me that he did it prior to the Superbowl to give the New Orleans fanbase something else to think about.
In the past the retail book has gone out with To Be Determined/Announced logos/designs when teams tweak their logos which is no big deal for the Lakers, Bulls or Lakers (we all know what they look like and they never change). However, for a completely new logo/team name, getting the design out to the public early, the retailers will hopefully have sense of interest from their fanbase when they are deciding what they should order.

I would hope theyd announce it pretty damn quick. No matter what the outcome is the one thing that kills sales the most is uncertainty. Im dying to pick up a walker jersey right now but obviously im not gonna do it if i dont even know what our teams name is going forward
