Sure, we can throw money at him in the offseason, but if he's the guy we're looking to spend money on, why not get the right to match any offer ourselves and have more control of the situation? Of course, this works best if expiring deals that we don't intend to keep are sent out. In essence, put a "down payment" on Pek now. If major assets are needed to make it happen, then I do believe making the Wolves blush with a big offer would be the way to go if he's a major target.
