Default On offense it seems like we're not even moving

I swear. Our offense looks terrible, we just stand around and pass the ball.... maybe an occasional cute little screen then pray Kemba or Hendo can make a jumper or maybe get an offensive rebound. Maybe it's just me, but tonight's last possession for example... pretty much a miracle

I think it's pretty obvious that Dunlap is not a great X and O's coach from our poor execution out of timeouts whether it's the inbounds play or the playcall. However, he's the perfect coach to follow through Cho & Co's master plan of tanking for the next two seasons, because he'll be able to tolerate losing without losing his cool.

True. I can already tell you what will happen though, we'll get the first pick this year when there is no real prize then we'll miss out on both Wiggins and Parker. Yippe.

You cant really fool a defense if you have only 1 or 2 competent offensive players in your lineup at any given time. Our offense actually was pretty effective at times with mully because we had 3 threats sometimes.

Dunlaps doing the best he can with a horribly unbalanced roster.

    1) We have the youngest, most inexperienced starting lineup, if you include Mullens instead of one of the older PFs (2, 4, 1, 4, and 2 years)
    2) Brand new system for players to learn
    3) 1st year coach, who gained most of his experience outside the NBA. Still learning nuances, tendencies, strategies
    4) Don't have an inside player that can create their own shot consistently. Not until Mully becomes a PF instead of a 3 point shooter, but we're still waiting
    5) Our best playmakers are all under 6'3, and their best skill is creating their own shot, not setting up others

To say Dunlap is not a good strategist is very premature. The first 3 points on the list take time and experience, its a process that doesn't happen instantly. Points 4 and 5 are based on roster shortcomings, and even a great strategy would be incredibly hindered. A combination of all of the above points creates a severely unbalanced offense, with problems in execution due to youth and inexperience.

Learning these things on the fly against veteran teams and systems that have been in place for more than a year also increases the painstaking learning process. Give the coach til year 3, otherwise you risk starting the coaching treadmill that losing teams love to run on.

We need a low post offensive threat who can draw a double team. Plain and simple. Just like always. Until then offense will be a struggle for us. Plain and simple.

I want to keep Dunlap around just for the post game interviews. Love the way he words things. Love his demeanor.

I think it's naive to say its the roster or its the coach. It's a mixture of the two, Dunlap is all about emery and defense and relies on our team to score it's points in transition. His plays certainly don't wow me and lots of them are the same to Paul's last year in truth.

Then again our roster doesn't have many reliable offensive theme eats as previously mentioned, To some extent I think 1 in 1 with Kemba and Hendo is probably the most efficient form of offence right now, let the others space the flood. That works to some extent, like with the Hawks and Woodson but only gets you so far. By the time were contending we need something more imaginative and efficient

Eh... I don't think we're running that much stuff from last year. Silas was determined to run that UCLA high post nonsense with Diaw in order to babysit our perimeter guys - this year is the exact opposite. Bigs don't get much more than a chance to hand it off, shoot, or rebound and ALL of the perimeter guys minus Kemba show no intention of passing the ball after they dribble once. And its not a coaching thing either. Gordon has been that player his whole life, Henderson, Sessions has been replaced with Bizarro Sessions and he isn't giving it up either. It creates a natural stagnation because when players don't trust each other, they fall back and what they do naturally.

I think we should post MKG up more. He takes alot of contact when he goes to the lane and still usually hits the shot. Our guards are forced to go one on one all game, it's voodoo magic that keeps these games close with the pitiful production on offense from our post players
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it
