Default 2 good draft additions if we keep our core and get the Portland pick

It's nice to fantasize. But please keep it realistic.

    One scenario:

Noel and Olynyk. We desperately need quality bigs and these two guys bring a lot of different skills to your lineup. Noel brings you the length/rebounding/shotblocking, and Olynyk gives you the bulk and superior ball skills. Both have decent mobility and can be somewhat interchangeable on defense.

    Who do you covet??

    Two more thoughts:

Shabazz/Plumlee An inside/out infusion of scoring and rebounding

Bennett/Plumlee Bolstering the frontline with a guy who can score from anywhere and 2 strong, athletic guys with rebounding potential. Only issue: Are they both "4's" who would cut into each other's playing time? Or can Bennett slide over to the wing position?

I really think we need help in the front court so I am taking two big guys. Noel with our pick, hopefully he can become what we hoped Tyrus Thomas could be.

With the other pick I would target a center with legit size, either Isaiah Austin or Gobert. Might look to trade up into the 10 range with that second pick for a shot at one of these guys. Maybe combine the detroit and portland picks to move up. There is actually a good chance of having both this year, but even if we don't we could combine them in a trade.

If all the centers I like are off the board I want a combo guard with great passing and ball handling ability, either Marcus Smart or Carter-Williams.

Problem with taking a guard with the top pick is we don't have any big guy prospects in the pipeline. Only way I like that is if we use our pick on a guard then trade the det and port picks for a vet big like Al Horford.

But if Shabazz or Mclemore emerge as the two sure-fire studs with superstar potential, we gotta take them, right?? Regardless of whether we add a big man....

I'm kind of hoping that Bennett emerges as the next Barkley/LJ. That would really fit our needs.

Or if Noel develops offensively, that could be nice.

About Gobert and Olynyk: I'd say the Cats should stay away from a 7 ' French center as well as from a long haired player from Gonzaga...
historic reasoning as the body of proof....

I say Cho should go with the Baby Bulls strategy (Curry and Chandler in 1 draft) and pick two out of Zeller / Noel (with the own pick) and Plumlee / McAdoo / Cauley-Stein / Austin (with the POR pick).
Reasoning : You cant teach size! (Picks projected by current big boards)

I would go with 2 bigs. Noel/Plumblee. We need interior D and rebounding. Noel is going to be a really great talent in the NBA. His hands are what I love about him the most. Half his highlights are of him stealing the ball. That would work really well with our team since transition basketball is very vital to our style.

No, I agree if it's like a D-Rose vs Beasly situation you take D-Rose every time even if your team needs a PF bad. We pretty much have to trust the scouts to do their job in this.

Generally though, big guys are usually less ready to contribute right away, take more time to develop but have a longer shelf life. Drafting the big guys first and the guards second is usually a better plan.

The other thing we need to decide is if we are trying to be a playoff team next year or if we are trying to get Wiggins. Taking two big guys that are not ready to contribute a whole lot could put us in a good position to get another top pick.

Agreed. I would like us to go with either

    Zeller/Cauley-Stein
    or
    Noel/Leslie

Perhaps you are half-kidding, but I don't think Morrison should have anything to do with drafting Olynyk, UNLESS Olynyk also happens to have diabetes, in which case, yeah, I'm spooked away from him as well.....

I personally think size is often a little overrated on draft day.
