Default Would you want to add Josh Smith to our core for PF??

Just asking if you would want to add a:

    - 6'9" 225lb PF
    - 17ppg/8rpg/4apg
    - Just turned 27 in December
    - 5yr/94M is what he thinks he's worth this FA
    - We give up no assets as we nab him in free agency
    - Total headcase on par with Tyrus, but way more talented
    - We do blow our cap, but the age/scorer/need/athleticism/"stud" combo is justified

    Kemba
    Henderson
    MKG
    J Smith
    Noel/Len

He's more than welcome to a max contract, as long as its anywhere but here

No doubt he would make nights at the arena much more fun for the short term.

But I have "Bobcats/Cho Syndrome", meaning I am addicted to adding young prospects in the 18-22 age group.

We can try to be respectable now with Kemba/Henderson/Sessions/Gordon/Smith, or we can try to build toward the deeper future and add guys in MKG and Biyombo's age range, leaving our cap space open.

    How about this?:

    Kemba
    Shabazz/Taylor
    MKG
    Smith/Olynyk or Plumlee??
    Biyombo/Mullens

You let Henderson go, but that leaves cap space for Smith. And you hope Shabazz is a stud from the get-go and the future superstar that we have desperately craved. And then we are "own our way"??

I don't mind a vet (not like 27 is old anyway), but Smoove is not the type of player we need to be adding, especially at the salary expectations he has. He's not a #1, can't shoot to save his life, and is dumber than a bag of rocks.

I keep hearing that he has fallen out of favor in Atlanta. It was also my understanding that he was jacking up long range shots too much instead of using his inside abilities.

If we signed him I'd try to hope for the best and enjoy the highlights he provides. (The hope is he would mature with age and benefit from a change of scenery)

I'd prefer this as well, but I'm pretty confident the conversation starts with at least Kemba or MKG and goes from there. Horford has finally established himself in the league as an ideal character-type PF, and with his best years still to come. I wouldn't want Smith here necessarily, but the thought of acquiring a talented PF without coughing up assets intrigued me enough to gauge what everyone else's thoughts were on the subject. Uber-talented player, jackass approach to the game.

I'm scared to go after Horford he's injury prone. I love Josh Smith and I think he's a max contract type player Plays 3 positions, okay shooter, great defender, pretty good passer.

    Not at his contract demands.

I would rather that cap space be spent on a true PF or C with a back to the basket post game.
