So judging Noel on his performance against college amateurs is ok, but judging Biz on his performance against them is "so what"? You are essentially comparing Noel against no name centers, guys that will never sniff the NBA, while comparing Biz against Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer. Sounds fair to me.

To be fair, Hasheem Thabeet was a game-changing defensive presence that UConn rode to the final four (and might have gone farther had Dyson not hurt his knee) who's settling in nicely as a backup rebounder/shot-blocker after almost washing out of the league. It's about how you fit/project to the NBA game, not how you play against 6'5" power forwards with a different set of rules.

Honest question with no disrespect intended: Have you seen Noel play recently?

You know that was in response to the idea of what Bismack would be averaging in college, and not about how Noel will translate, right?

I'm failing to see the part where Noel and Bismack are mutually exclusive.

I'm also failing to see how anyone could make an honest decision on whether or not Bismack is a core guy after he's barely played 100 games and is still one of the 10 youngest players in the league

Looks like we could have our pick of guys. I hadn't looked at the standings much lately but we have the worst record in the league. Not shocking but yet disheartening.

As for Noel, eh. Let's just see how the season rolls on. The draftniks will probably change their mind on the best prospect about 200x in the next few mos.

Not only is Biz not a bust, he still has the potential to be double what Ben Wallace ever was. He's 20. He had a double double against Minnesota, then followed it up with a crappy performance on the road in Chicago against an All star. Something you would have expected if you watched Biz. He's young, and wildly inconsistent. But so is virtually every 20 year old in the NBA. Its a process and this kind of knee jerk reaction is what gets a rebuilding effort in trouble.

And mark my words... if we get Noel, he will be starting beside Biz as the new PF for the Charlotte Hornets.

Valid points. Like I said, I'm not saying Biz is a bum. He isn't. But, I don't see him becoming what many are thinking he will become. He's going to have to make HUGE strides in certain areas.

As far as the Ben Wallace comparison, the difference I see is that Wallace got a late start once he went to the Pistons, but once he started playing I don't remember him ever having that many negative plays offensively. Biz REALLY struggles offensively whether it be footwork or putbacks, he just struggles. Yes, he COULD grow out of that, but it seems like something he isn't just going to develop.

It very well could be mental as others have pointed out, which I hadn't really considered to be a problem for a big because there are a lot less things that have to be thought through as a big compared to a PG. But, I have noticed that he gets yanked fairly quickly after making a mistake.

And in this thread, I'm assuming if we draft Noel that Biz would be expendable because Noel would be starting with many of the same skills... But, I agree it's entirely possible they could play together. I've long said Biz could play C and I could see him doing so next to Noel and hopefully continue to develop. He has to at least get where he isn't costing us consecutive possessions in every game. I love everything about Biz, I just hope his offensive play improves dramatically and defensively he continues to grow.

Really like Noel a lot, and I think if we have the chance to get him in the draft, we should. You can never have too many talented frontcourt players, especially considering what we have up there now. I don't think that necessarily means we should get rid of Biz. I think he could be a solid bench player or potentially become a starter alongside Noel. But yeah, Noel is going to be a stud in the NBA. Would love to see him in Charlotte.

Also, FWIW, NBADraft.net has us passing over Nerlens to draft Zeller.

Getting Noel does not make biz expendable. Biz is young and will become a monster one day on D. You can never have enough defense in the NBA. They can play off each other and work together on blocking shots. When you known as the defensive specialist on the floor, you might play outside your game cuz you are "the last line of defense". you will do what you can to stop a basket but might over extend. thats why the other the can help till they are both in position again. This also allows us to always have a shot blocker out there.

Here's a trade we should do

To PHX: G- Gerald Henderson, PF- Bismack Biyombo, C- Desagna Diop, Portlands 1st round pick

To Charlotte: C- Marcin Gortat, SF- Jared Dudley
