Default Bobcats need a "face of the franchise".....But who?

The Hornets had Mugsy and Dell Curry for years.

But still, I think The Bugs dropped in popularity because they were never able to keep their stars for very long. Every few years they had to recycle and bring in new good players. You had the Tripucka-then-Kendall Gill beginning. Afterwards there was the LJ/Zo period. You had the Glenn Rice/LJ-into-Mason time. You had the Eddie Jones stretch, and then the Jamal Mashburn/Baron Davis period, if memory serves. It was great to have so many solid players come through here, but that's kind of too much change.

That said, WHO could be the face of this franchise moving forward??

I was hoping it was going to be Gerald Henderson. Seems like a good guy. Has a good TV face. Should have some brains since he went to Duke. He's been through our best season into the playoffs, and he's been through our awful season as the worst team in NBA history. He seemed to really care about getting us out of the gutter this season. He was Dunlap's choice for a captain. He's survived three coaches. But I fear nagging injuries and roster circumstances will keep him from developing here much further.

Then I'm thinking MKG. Plays very hard, which REALLY translates live at the arena(see Gerald Wallace being worth the price of admission for years). Youngest player in the league. Still plenty of hope with this guy. But there's that whole shyness/stuttering issue. So I'm not sure how marketable he is in that regard.

Then there's Biyombo. By most accounts a great kid who wants to be good. Maybe he could work.

But I think I'll go with Kemba. The kid has made great strides. He has a winning smile. Seems comfortable giving an interview. He was no academic slouch himself in college. Plays an exciting little man style. Hits the floor multiple times a night to get the right angle for a basket or grab a loose ball.

    Thoughts??

Kemba is a natural born leader, has a sportcenter highlight playing style while being productive, plays with fire and passion, charismatic, demonstrative, and animated on the floor...something about him makes him the fan-fav type of guy.

I mean if we're going by the eye test and you tell joe-smo fan to watch 2 months of the Bobcats basketball...most would rate Kemba highest on the likeability rating of all players.

He is on the cusp of all-star consideration, easily Charlotte's best player, leader of the team, *represents the new brand of Bobcats basketball*, and is most likeable: He will get that recognition in the future

I don't see the face being anyone other than Walker.
The amount of swagger he has on that court, it's like the second coming of Captain Jack.

Kemba without a doubt i was hopeful he could be when he was drafted and he's slowly living up to that expectation...well he already is the face of the franchise i'd say

people are gonna fall in love with Kemba if we can ever get him into the playoffs.

imagine if we had him instead of Felton in 2010

Can't force this kind of thing. I think Kemba's going to wind up a hometown favorite even if he isn't the best player on the team in the future, but there's going to be so much turnover on the roster in the next two years it's almost impossible to forecast right now.
