We drive to the basketball first and foremost, MKG can only drive to the hoop, but he does it well, therefore, he should be a productive player on offense. Right?

Those are some big words, I might just take that bet. MKG doesnt seem to have that same beast mode Crash has. MKG seems calm, non aggressive out there. He's active but doesn't attack. MKG is getting real passive lately and you can't be Crash Jr if your always stuck being Clark Kent or David Banner. MKG needs to man up
I think he was before the eye injury. For a 19 year old showing it in spurts I'll take that any day. I think he shows great signs of being as good a defender and rebounder and give him the 4-5 years Crash had to develop his iffy outside shot I imagine that'll be at least as good too.
The big thing is MKG shows point/forward skills and has handles. Crash had neither even in his prime.

You do realize that Gerald Wallace didn't even have the numbers MKG has through one half of a season, until his 4th year in the league and first year with the Bobcats right? Both came into the league at 19.... and MKG is light years ahead of were Wallace was... Light Years.
I have high hopes for MKG as well and I'm sure he'll start playing better soon. MKG may be better than Crash was, but Wallace was an all-star (and two time dunk contest participant). It won't be easy for MKG to get at that level.
Teams are just laying back and giveing him the jump shot now. He don't have enough confidence in his jumper so he passes it. His jump shot has to inprove 4 him to become effective.
To me any thing MKG can do Taylor seems he can do better . Right now i think Taylor is a much better all around player. He gets to the rim as well,. Has a much better jumper , And is a little better on ball defender . But Taylor is three years older that might be the difference.
Thanks Ammofan!
Like others have said, I think the eye injury may have set him back a bit, along with the rookie wall, fatigue, loss of a stretch 4 in Mullens, loss of Tyrus' mind. He'll probably get back on track after the all star break.
But MKG does have a beast mode. If you remember before he got kneed in the eye during the Hornets game, he was absolutely destroying Anthony Davis. He was completely unstoppable, I think he had like 20 points and 8 rebounds at halftime, and was THE reason we were up 17 on them at the half.
He was hitting jumpers, slicing through the lane, had a couple monster dunks - he looked like a young Lebron (not hyperbole, during that half, he looked every bit the part). I swear he probably would've but up 35 points, 15 boards, 5 steals if he never got hit.
Hasn't really broken out since then, but I know that ability is within him. So I have no worries.

MKG's tank is nearly empty. He's missing the explosion he had in his drives earlier in the season. The effort is there, as it always is with him, but the body doesn't appear to be willing. He just needs to get through this season, then totally de/re-construct his shooting mechanics in the off-season. Rip them completely apart and start again, the right way, and have a two year plan to make it feel natural. With the likes of Dunlap and Cho the message to him will be one of support and understanding.
I'd love to see a veteran SF brought in for him to learn from both by example and mentorship. I like Taylor as a SG as much if not more than SF, so he'll still get his minutes.

Taylor is a more all round player... but then again he is 3-4 years older so I would expect that, the only thing that has surprised me is I thought MKG would always be able to block shots, get steals and assists but even those have dropped off. But we have all seen the flashes of what he can do, being that young you expect inconsistency, time my friends
