Default How does the Gay trade affect the bobcats?

det sent out all of their decent sf's and got back an upgrade at pg. purely a cap space move. my question is, how could this affect the pick we are owed. does it make it any more likely to be used this year or next? does it still hold the same value as before the trade? should we keep it or look to move it for a better asset?

also: check out the gif of the the tay prince fan. priceless.

I don't think Prince or Daye was going to be key for them moving forward, so it made sense to get rid of the salary commitment. I still don't think that Detroit catches Phi/Bos for the eighth playoff spot, so it doesn't make it any more likely that Charlotte gets their pick. However, with Toronto taking on a big salary commitment in Rudy Gay, and having a competent power forward making mid-level money in Amir Johnson, Andrea Bargnani is likely to be more available than ever.

I know I'm not the only one that laughed after reading the title
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it

DET - short term worse but starting this summer theoretically better. Dumped salary so they should have like 30 million in the offseason...but we all saw what Dumars last did with a bunch of capspace. My bet is they re-sign Caleron and overpay the hell out of someone like OJ Mayo.

We get the pick next year unless Dumars screws it up worse than even I think he can.

I'm not so sure, Calderon will let Knight play off the ball. Personally with Rondo's acl injury I can see Detroit making a run at the play offs, especially if Drummond starts playing more minutes.

I think Toronto would likely get the 8th spot over Detroit if Boston doesn't make it, but Detroit does have a shot. With Monroe and Drummond down low Detroit is going to have a dangerous post game for a long time.

At SF they have Kyle Singler followed by Bad Porn who hasn't been healthy all year.

I say we trade Tyrus, Sessions, and Warrick for Bargnani and Aaron Gray.

    it give us:

    Kemba
    Hendo
    MKG
    Bismack
    Bargnani

    and gives them:

Gay Johnson Sessions with Tyrus and Ross

Take Tyrus (and his contract) out and sub Diop in, and that deal gets done. One of the big reasons that MKG has had trouble getting to the rim lately is that Mullens (for all his faults) isn't around to stretch the defense anymore, and teams are better able to pack the paint.
