I think he is just trying to put the best five guys on the court that give the Bobcats the best chance of winning. Unfortunately, that means we have to play small ball. I definitely believe we should trade a wing player for a post guy.

Teams play small ball because they have to balance size and talent
Two factors in my humble opinion:

Officiating trends that reward face up players??
The early entry trend. Big men take longer to develop because they don't face other true bigs in high school. But if they are jumping to the NBA at 19, they just aren't ready, for a long time...

Also, does the small ball trend speak well for an Anthony Bennett who is so comfortable facing up and yet has the body to bang?? I'm going with "yes"....

I get what you're saying. Unfortunately Dwight Howard had the chance to be a that star..instead he chose to rest on the skills he brought into the league and not embrace 4th quarter play. If only something could spark that interest in giant youngsters to idolize back to basket bigs, then the league would have that pool of talent and we could balance talent and size...but with more size. If we're getting into the chicken or the egg...you can definitely say there isn't real superstar talent in the power forward pool...especially not from European pipelines.

If anything will put a halt to the small-ball movement...it will be the Pacers beating the Heat in the playoffs...and annihilating there asses in the paint in doing so.

(if tonight didn't serve as a good example)

I've been taking it for what it's worth and what Dunlap is stuck with in terms of roster pieces to work with, but I was getting fucking irate watching poor JT be asked to guard Patrick Patterson when he was doing solid work on Harden and Parsons when he was on them but because we had the 3 guards out there...

All I know is, playing Jeff Taylor at PF to guard Patrick Patterson resulted in utter butt destruction. Then again, we dont stop anyone with big guys in either so maybe keeping the tempo up with small ball is a good plan.

Yeah he went way too far with it last night.

Default Who's sick of the 3-4 guard lineups and "search" for the right combination??

It's the make up of our roster, if we had Z Bo and Gasol obviously Dunlap wouldn't play small ball. He has seen our team play more than anyone and I rely on him on making the correct decision with his years if experience.

Well, if the frontcourt gets fixed this summer it won't be as much of an issue next year, but there just isn't much talent available when it comes to the Charlotte bigs. No real good option here.

We dont have to go small ball. All we need to do is run the offense through the wings. Only job for the bigs should be to rebound and defend the paint.
