A new team gets automatically the 4th pick in the draft. We traded it for the 2nd pick to select Okafor.
Just looking back in time. When we became the Bobcats and draft time came up, how did we NOT get the first pick? I would assume that they would of just gave us that pick and let the other teams do the normal method. Seems very odd to me that the Magic got the first pick..Dwight should have been ours!

Besides, we would have stayed in mediocrity for years..perhaps throughout his career..without high draft picks: we would not be bottom dwellers with him on the team...at least not beyond his rookie season; he would immediately lifted our win total from actual 04 season total. That being said, free agents, for some reason, do not find Charlotte appealing even though it has the same "family appeal" Orlando has...so where would that leave us? We would be the pre-Harden, post-Yao Rockets...or the modern day Hawks (although they may make it out of first round this year).

While we are going back to that time.... Orlando had called Bernie earlier that day and let him know they were taking Emeka and then later called back and told them they changed their mind and were taking DH12...
Later in our 1st season was the worst day in franchise history.... It was the last game of the season vs. The Pistons during their great run. We were .5 a game behind New Orleans in the win column and if we lost we would pick ahead of them... Detroit sat most of their stars and we fought like hell to win a meaningless game. We won the game, tied record with NOLA, lost the coin flip, they drafted 1 spot higher and picked CP3 and we got Felton....

Dude..they're perennial one and done. At least in this situation our ceiling is not set in stone.
