    Default Dunlap has to go!

The best indication of how good you are is not wins and losses but point differential. We have more wins then last year but two of those were vs Washington when they were dealing with injuries. One was a gift from the refs vs the Raptors. According to the point differential we are the worst team in the league... BY FAR!

Remember all that talk about a pressing defense last summer. What a joke! We have a bunch of guys that are supposed to be at least good defenders (Kemba, Hendo, MKG, Taylor, Biz) and we have the worst defense in the league by far. Watching this team play zone makes you realize why no one in the NBA plays zone. We give up the most assists (an indicator of easy buckets) and we give up a TON of open threes (teams shoot better from 3 vs the bobcats then any other team in the league).

The offense is horrible too! Do we even run plays, ever? Our offense is a guard trying to drive past two guys to the bucket (and never getting a call because we are the Bobcats) or somebody taking a contested jumper. We don't have a lot of talented post guys, but I would understand a little more if we were at least trying to develop them. If we go to Biz on the block five or six times a game and he isn't very efficient I can live with that because its a chance for him to learn and improve. I don't see that happening, we are just playing crap basketball out there.

He hasn't motivated the troops. Guys on this team don't look like they want to play for him. A real leader doesn't just bark at the players to play hard, a real leader makes guys want to play hard for him, because they don't want to let him down. The biggest part of being a leader is getting people to like you. That is the reason some guys make great assistants while others make great head coaches. Dunlap does not look like a head coach to me.

We don't have many good vet players on our team, but we aren't asking the guy to win the NBA championship. All we need to see is progress and player development. The only guy that has taken a step is Kemba and he is one of the only players that doesn't need any kind of play run to get a good shot. If Dunlap was a difference maker we wouldn't look like the worst team in the NBA every night.

WTF were we thinking to let Jerry Sloan get away from us last summer. Please MJ fire this guy and lets get someone better. The product on the floor is the responsibility of the head coach and Dunlap is not getting the job done. He has lost all of my confidence and he looks like he has lost the locker room as well.

I'm pretty sure the main reason we didn't go with Sloan is because we're in a huge rebuilding stage and who knows if he'll even coach for another 2-3 years with a team that doesn't have much talent.

It's no secret that Dunlap was not hired for his in-game abilities. In fact, that likely helped him. He was brought here to develop players on the practice court. The games are glorified scrimmages to give the young guys experience against NBA talent. Dunlap will likely be here for the rest of this year and all of next. At that point, we should have sucked enough to get more young guys, and Dunlap has hopefully developed them pretty well. Dunlap was not brought here to win games and is not the coach of the future.

The bolded is ridiculous. Compared to last year, this team plays like Rocky. Point differential has more to do with the fact that we're a fundamentally broken team at the moment seeing as how we can't rebound or defend due to lack of bigs and virtually all of our scoring comes from the perimeter. Its not that way because of coaching decision, its that way because our roster is trash. The fact that we even generate an offense at all is a testament to Dunlap's day in/day out give a damn. Every team in the league sees what we're going to do and somehow we manage to stick around and keep opposing teams agitated enough to play seriously before getting crushed in the exact same way most nights - why? because, again, this is a fundamentally broken roster and you simply can't win games with it.

Even getting smacked around, this is the most entertaining team we've had in the past 2-3 years. The guys play hard. They're dumb. They're bad. Most should be in the D League, but they usually leave it all on the court - even though they know they've got no chance.

And I don't see how you can say that players aren't showing progress. Everyone talks about Kemba but no one talks about Henderson's ability to not be COMPLETELY reliant on being spoonfed off of curls anymore. Biz has gone from complete trash vs anyone not named Dwight to sometimes looking like a mere scrub. Mullens' offensive game has looked much improved when he's not chucking 3s. Sessions is having one of his most efficient years off the bench. JT went from being a scared Dahntay Jones wannabe at the beginning of the season to a reliable shooter and someone worth guarding. No one else matters really. Everyone should've known that Haywood would immediately revert to being a nobody and that Ben Gordon would be effectively worthless as he's the most unreliable and streaky player we've had since Flip. Hell, MKG went from being terrified to shoot to letting his ugly ass jumper fly now - Dunlap is definitely giving these kids confidence. I don't even think its debatable. Biyombo shooting fades and shit... come on

I don't know what people expected but I got EXACTLY what I wanted out of Dunlap, the team, and the season so far. We suck. We'll get a top 3 pick. Our guys (that we care about) are developing. We didn't waste money signing anyone or making a knee jerk of a trade. We're not trading any of our young guys away for overpaid fringe allstars. We're not burying Biz behind Diop or signing someone to take his minutes.

    ALSO

NO - the biggest part of being a leader is NOT dependent on getting people to like you. You don't have to look any further than MJ to see that. UGH

Wasn't it just Monday that we were in it from the jump to the end against Miami? How is it threads like this don't pop up after highly contested games like that, of which there's been many?

    Default Dunlap has to go!

There's not even any point arguing and this will be my only post in this thread.

    1) Dunlap is a development coach, his job is improving the players not winning. Be patient he has only been in charge since the summer and we have already seen the improvement in Kemba and Mullens.

    2) what do you expect with this roster? I would say there are a few coaches who could have a better record with our roster... But those kind of coaches are not coming here, they are staying in LA, NY and San Antonio.

    3) if you think hiring someone new would change anything your naive. It might have 3 or 4 game effect like Silas did, but would do little. Plus changing coach half way through the season wouldn't change our plays. Silas used all of the LB plays when he took over and didn't change anything as you can't mid season.

Now I have no doubt people will quote me drawing holes in my arguments but I'm not going to reply as I know that the people posting in this thread have Already made up their mind.

Just like the Bismack Struggles thread is eerily quiet after a stretch of good games then picks pack up when he struggles like he never played we'll to begin with. Dumb knee jerk reactionists are so quick to ignore the good because they're so busy being negative about the team.

Now apparently the guys clearly don't like Dunlap when they've said the complete opposite on multiple occasions. Kemba is playing like a future all star. Hendo can shoot. Bismack added some serious rebounding to his already stellar shot blocking and has displayed the ability to direct the defense at times. Mully is a 14/8 player and can be even better when he continues to work on his efficiency. Jeff is a defensive stopper and a great shooter and MKG before the rookie wall was showing he will be a fantastic player in the future.

Not to mention we've already surpassed last years win total and its not even the halfway point in the season.

Don't wanna stick around? I hear the Heat, Knicks, and Lakers are accepting bandwagon applications.

80% of the roster needs to go. Three years from now I wouldn't be surprised if Kemba, MKG, and Taylor are the only guys from this year still around. It's just not a talented group.
