ignoring the idiotic reaction thread and taking umbrage with the fact that everyone keeps calling Dunlap "not an Xs and Os guy" or "not an in game coach".

If you give Emeril a cat turd and a bottle of sparkling water, don't be surprised when the soup taste like shit. BAM!

Yes he was brought here to develop the players, but he's also a sharp basketball mind and its just a hunch, but I'm guessing it might take more than 40 games to become a hall of fame coach with renowned in game abilities... but again, just a hunch.

Agreeded Dunlap reminds me of coach K in his first year ,people calling for his head . Coach K was devoloping a program a style of play . Dunlap seems to be looking long term ,, a great basketball mind.. Building a program. Consider this the first year of a building process.

Also, I don't know how people can crap on Dunlap's Xs and Os when he gets a decent offense out of what most of the basketball world thought was the most scoring inept roster in the league. How we EVER crack 93 points is a mystery to me.

Now apparently the guys clearly don't like Dunlap when they've said the complete opposite on multiple occasions. Kemba is playing like a future all star. Hendo can shoot. Bismack added some serious rebounding to his already stellar shot blocking and has displayed the ability to direct the defense at times. Mully is a 14/8 player and can be even better when he continues to work on his efficiency. Jeff is a defensive stopper and a great shooter and MKG before the rookie wall was showing he will be a fantastic player in the future.

Not to mention we've already surpassed last years win total and its not even the halfway point in the season.

Don't wanna stick around? I hear the Heat, Knicks, and Lakers are accepting bandwagon applications.
At least I've been consistent with my Mullens criticisms lol

This thread is not a knee jerk reaction. I have watched this team all season. You guys can all say to soon if you want, but you will all be on board sooner or later unless this guy figures it out.

The team is not talented, and as such you can't draw any meaningful conclusions about Dunlap one way or the other. Back in 2007 there was a big "Fire Doc Rivers!" sentiment among the Boston fans because the Celtics were really bad and the fans had convinced themselves that the young guys on the team (most of whom are now, or at one point were, out of the league) were future stars if only they had a competent coach. Then Boston got actual talent and it turned out Doc was one of the best coaches in the league. If Charlotte can swap out the roster full of has-beens and never-will-bes for NBA players then you can decide something about Dunlap.

We should not fire Dunlap for at least another year, both out of fairness and from business standpoint. My biggest problem with him (which I stated a while back) is that he doesn't have consistent rotations, which doesn't allow any chemistry to form between players. It is no mystery why we are last in the NBA in team assists per game. That is his fault, no way around it. As for defense, I think rotation consistency is part of the problem as well. The guys Dunlap throws out on the court simply aren't used to playing with each other. However, I still can't fault Dunlap for this completely, because the gap between the quality of talent we have in our starting lineup compared to our bench is a very slim margin. We have a lot of "decent" players that need to get minutes to get results.

From a business standpoint, if we want to attract free agents we need to have some consistency in personnel and a firm direction. Even if Dunlap isn't the best coach, by keeping him we offer both of those things.

TLDR: keep him around, get him a more balanced roster, then lets judge what he can do.

A bit liberal use of the word "great". But I do agree this is the first year of a process and should be treated as such.
