Here are the premier contestants

Has there been a better matchup on paper (or live action) that compares?

Personally don't care about any of the all-star festivities.
The only way I'd watch them would be to have something like:
Three Point Contest = Dwight Howard, Roy Hibbert, Andrew Bynum, Marc Gasol, Brook Lopez, and Tyson Chandler
Dunk Contest = Slamball style where one guy comes in for the block and the other tries to poster them
ASG is boring as nobody plays hard and just fiddle farts around the whole time. The RSG is a little better, but they still do too much dumb stuff for my taste. Hell, they even lollygag in the Skills Challenge
what about the shooting contest that features one legend, one star, and one wnba player? everyone's favorite.
i wish they did the dunk contest more free jam style, with one person going immediately after the person before them, regardless of whether they made it or not. less down time and more trying to one up everyone in the moment.
the NBA/WNBA/Legend thing is okay, it's a bit hokey though because even they pootle around, but I guess it's okay.
Allstar in sports = bad?

Slamball is pretty fun to watch.
They showed it a few times here in Perth, was pretty amazing.

i do like the 3 pt contest
dunk contest is way played out.
i would prefer a 1 on 1 tournament and a 3 on 3 tournament. maybe hot shot (30 sec score as many points as possible, different shot locales = diff points). all events betting for charity with the players making different bets and side watchers making prop bets.
Renamed this thread so that we can discuss next week's All Star Game weekend right here.
One player that you should look for in next weekend's dunk contest is James "Flight" White. He has been a dunking legend for a while.

Rant:
LeBron tweeted "Dunk Contest?"
LeBon is officially and douche if he no goes after teasing us AGAIN. I'm sorry, normally I would let this go...but he friggin told Cheryl Miller on national TV he was going to be in the dunk contest years ago and bailed. What makes that worse is that he's been the "Floyd vs Pacman" of all potential contest appearances.
I have some respect for him if he delivers an appearence...which is all really the fans have sked of him
He doesn't have to do anything; but he DID make a promise that he didn't keep and he can impact the dunk contest being a marque event for superstars again. LeBron, please don't be a party pooper once again for those of us who want the dunk contest to be "back" (even though Magic Johnson says it is every year)
In General: it is a very respectable class of dunkers this year without LeBron: James White, Gerald Green (if I have his name correct), the defending champ from Utah, and the MANIMAL, Kenneth Faried.
