I really hate this idea. If we get a pick I am on board but otherwise we really don't have a lot to gain here.

Lets suppose that Hump really balances out our roster and gives us maybe 10+ wins this year and and an extra 20 wins next year. That would be a best case of course, it would more likely be like 5+ wins this year and 10+ wins next year even if he returned to his last year form.

What exactly does that do for us? We are not going to compete this year. We likely will not compete for a championship next year either. Even if things go well it will just cause us to get a worse pick this year and miss out on a chance at Wiggins next year. Hump isn't a long term solution. He can't even beat out Reggie Evans for playing time. Ben Gordon will be more valuable as an expiring because he is just a more useful player and less overpaid. I bet we could get a first for Ben Gordon as an expiring but I doubt we could get anything for Hump.

While it doesn't have a chance to help the Bobcats that much, it really helps the nets. They are looking at getting our third leading scorer for a guy that barley gets in their rotation. They need this deal way more then we do. We can hold them up for a pick here! They think they are going to compete next year and their pick won't be that valuable. I say we demand a 1st from them next year to do the deal.

I get that Humphries, when motivated, is a solid double-double guy, but I don't get why everyone wants to dangle Gordon out there. I just don't get it. Is Hump gonna replace his 17 ppg off the bench? IMHO, Gordon should be starting and getting the majority of minutes at SG and Hendo should be the guy getting traded. I don't like the move and I don't like the extra year of salary we'd take on for a marginal move.

A) Gordon's only averaging 13 a night, so.......yes Humphries will replace his scoring. This move also frees up more playing time for Hendo/Taylor/Sessions.

B) Humphries and Gordon are both expirings next year, and Humphries makes slightly less next season. The trade, if a straight one-for-one actually saves the team a little over a million dollars.

I like this for several reasons. It almost certainly means that Tyrus gets amnestied this off season, gives us the option of simply letting Warrick walk,leaves us with the same money this off season, and actually saves us 1.2 million next year. Not to mention that his contract will be up long before any of our young guys need extensions.
It also makes our draft and free agency approach very simple. If we take a 2 guard in the draft then we go hard after a free agent center. If we draft a center then we go hard after a free agent 2 guard or give Hendo a modest extension and sign a reasonable back up until we have a better option down the road. I say go for it. Although i'd rather do this deal before the draft so we can keep our position! lol.

Wait a second, first you go on a rant about Dunlap being a terrible coach that needs to be fired.... yet you're against giving him a clear upgrade in the post and a guy who would help the team with two huge needs?

Wait a minute. Does Humphries expire after next year? I thought he was on a 3 year deal. He'd have to agree to at least a one year extension for me to want to do this deal if we're gonna risk losing the #1 pick and then possibly having him walk after next season.

Ok. I'd want him to extend a year so we have some sort of piece of mind. Although i do have to say that Cho turning Magette and the #2 pick into MKG,Humphries,and another first in half a year would be pretty damn impressive!
