Byron may turn out to be nothing but hot trash but I bet after this season you will find he is valued quite a bit. What his future has in store I can not say and nobody else can either. However given his youth and the current team we have I am sure there will be plenty of teams who will inquire and make bids on his services at seasons end.

Byron can only get better. I would be upset regarding his weaknesses if he was not showing any signs of growth and improvement. That is not the case. I doubt he is ever going to be a future HOF player but I can safely say that he looks like he can be a core piece to our teams future and be a key contributor. Whether it is with our team or another team I can see Byron turning out to be a future all star. At least once or twice. Of coarse he could statistically be good enough to earn such a spot and not make it. Stars and super stars having marginal seasons would probably take his spot based on past seasons of greatness and reputation. The only hope a player like Byron Mullens has is to not only statistically be good enough but to statistically dominate. I don't see that happening.

Don't care how inconsistent he is. He's just as young as the rest of the guys on the team so he's still learning. If guys like Kemba are allowed to consistently stink it up on the road and MKG/Bis are allowed to be invisible for large portions of games, then Mully should be afforded the same leeway.

I sincerely believe that he's capable of being an 18/10 guy on good percentages if we can just adjust his mental 2k13 tendency sliders to where he's 70% post and 30% spacing. He's too long and athletic to not be effective in the low/mid post
I personally think it's the excessive shooting inside the arc where he is guarded close or shooting a turnaround from back-to-basket position that needs to be toned down: very low percentage shots. I think he's capable of becoming consistent enough from deep to where those post plays don't have to be 70%. He definitely believes more in his J than in his athleticism. I see greater potential as a stretch 4 and not a hybrid 4.

Not to turn this into an intra-Cats-fan war, but I find it hilarious that many of the same people propping up Biz for his potential completely take a dump on Byron. I stuck up for BJ to start the season when people were ragging on him for bricking so many threes. Dude is probably our most complete player outside of Kemba right now and people are still hating on him. LOL, well, according to Steve Martin, with the way our front office and coaching staff is looking at him, it looks like there's going to be a lot of gas faces around here for years to come.

    Default Byron Mullens Appreciation Thread

There is definitely a love/hate theme between Mully and Biz: a mixed bag of moments of brilliance and facepalm moments. I'll also say their the most polarizing players on the team in terms of fan appreciation. The good thing is that many of us are consistent with our own convictions about the two and waiting to see who's predictions come to fruition is big part of what makes this a fascinating team to watch.

yep. i remember it wasnt too long ago that mully had a basket interference (on a ball that was going in anyway to put us up 4) in the last few minutes of the 4th. Instead lakers were within 2 and pretty much stole the game.

Then recently, i saw him get the ball in that left 3pt spot, look at the basket, look at his defender, and decide "no it is smarter to post up" and he came away with 2. That is encouraging to me, it means he is making an active effort to improve in certain areas (i.e. jacking up threes like an autist.)

That would be me, I like Mullens and his potential, but his shot choices are ridiculous.
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it

The thing for me is that Biz is learning how to play basketball. Mullens majors in playing a type of basketball that is extremely difficult to win with.

Its why people prefer Vucevic to Mullens by far.
