These 3pt% belong to Marcus Smart, McLemore, Oladipo, and Muhammad. Guess which percentage goes with which player?

Oh, I see what you're trying to do there, fancy pants.

My only concern is that Oladipo has shot about a third of McLemore's shots. Clearly that's a nice percentage at still a shot a game. But in his previous two years he shot in the neighborhood of 25%, including a terrible sophomore campaign of 20%. I'm just wondering if that's a legitimate change in production and skill or just a small sample size, a streak where he's been particularly hot? Or has he just gotten better at taking them when he should?

Again, I really don't know these guys, so please don't mistake this as me saying one is better than the other.

Hey man, this is a sports forum, how dare you examine stats in context?

    Let's go more in depth:
    McLemore: 32.2 mpg, 5.5-11.0 FGs (.500%), 1.9-4.5 3pt (.431%), 3.4-3.9 FT/G (.871%), 5.5 Rbs/g, 1.9 Asts/g, 0.8 blocks/g, 1.2 steals/g, 2.0 fouls, 2.1 TOs, 16.3 ppg

    Oladipo: 27.7 mpg, 5.2-8.1 FGs (.639%), 0.9-1.7 3pt (.511%), 2.8-3.7 FT/G (.752%), 6.0 Rbs/g, 2.2 Asts/g, 0.8 blocks/g, 2.4 steals/g, 2.3 fouls, 2.2 TOs, 14.0 ppg

Oladipo looks better b/c he has similar/better stats in less minutes but on the other hand, McLemore looks better b/c he's a freshman to Oladipo's junior.

Right. You've got to make the gamble one way or the other. What I like about McLemore is it appears he's still learning a lot and can grow a lot more from an already good baseline. Unfortunately, we don't get to see development over college.

How would you compare Oladipo with JT? Is he substantially better?

Yes. Much better handles. Shooting is probably a push. Oladipo's motor is definitely higher. I'd say that Oladipo is a better athlete and defender as well. 'Dipo's length and quickness is just fantastic.

don't watch much college, but does oladipo have an easier time because of the strong inside game of indiana specifically cody zellar?

Indiana is just a really well coached team overall, Oladipo definitely benefits from his teammates. Not just Zeller down low but also Watford causing matchup problems, Hulls being a 3pt threat, Yogi Farrell is like a poor man's Kemba, Sheehey brings a lot of energy off the bench and can do a little of everything like a poor man's Manu. I think that's a big reason why his 3pt % is so good, he gets really choice looks in the flow of the offense. But when their offense stalls and they can't get inside into Zeller, Oladipo is the de facto bail out guy and he gets a lot of tough buckets slashing in the lane.
