    Right.
    1. It's way to early to determine MKG's abilities.
    2. It's way to early to determine Wiggins or Parker's relative abilities.
    3. We don't know if we'll have a pick to get those guys.
    4. If we get a scoring 2 this upcoming draft, MKG might be a better fit. (Though, I'd always want the best talent, all things being equal.)
    5. While Lillard is looking nice, nobody is setting the world on fire at the moment. Even in the draft the year before, only Kyrie Irving has really distanced himself as a true blue chipper. It would be difficult to find a player that is clearly an upgrade on MKG.

It's a bit of a painful season again, especially since we don't have anybody, save Kemba, showing clear abilities to be a competitive NBA starter. That being said, we still have a lot of nice pieces with promise and we're just going to have to be patient.

I think the effect of a more accurate set shot (the only thing he really has a hope of developing, he will never be a dynamic scoring shooter) on MKGs game is massively overstated among Bobcats fans. I, and many of you, thought similar that Henderson would be such a better player if ONLY he had a 3-ball. And he got a good 3-ball and we've realized it really didn't do much at all, besides hitting a couple 3s sometimes he's basically the same player with the same level of impact.

Even if MKG got a more accurate set shot, he still releases the ball far too slow and low. Notice how often he gets blocked on seemingly wide open jumpshots? Its an easy adjustment for defenders to make.

As to why I think moving him ASAP is the right move...well I just don't particularly see his value going up. I see his value following the trajectory of Turner/Williams. Very high---rapid drop---slowly crawling back up. I'd want to get out before the rapid drop.

A month into the season I would have put the "untradeable" label on MKG. After the last couple of months, however, I would at least listen to offers for him. That doesn't mean I don't think he will eventually be a good to very good player, just that I am pretty confident he will never be somebody who all discussions of trading should be taboo. I wouldn't give him away or anything but I wouldn't say that he is untouchable either. Does that make me shortsighted, a MKG hater or a moron? I can't quite tell.

to many of us long timers here at the planet, it makes you none of the above. having an opinion does not make you a moron or a hater, unless the other person is insecure. hopefully, the trend towards this behavior stops on this site.

There are only a handful of untouchable players in the league, so it's definitely not shortsighted to consider trading him.

However, it would have to be a clear upgrade, as MKG can do too many things right now and still has potential for us to trade him for another questionable player like Cousins.

Another thing about MKG: he looks worse than he is because we don't many offensive threads aside from our small guards. Create a few more scoring options around the court to open up space, and MKG will do a lot more damage. I think the same can be said on the defensive end, where we don't necessarily have solid pieces in place to allow MKG to gamble more.

Also of note, MKG was labeled as a trascendent defender yet our team is even worse this year than last year at defense. And even worse with MKG on the floor than off. He's not exactly impacting the game on that side of the floor.

    1. Defense is not a one man game.
    2. He's 19. For most kids, this would be his freshman year in college.
    3. He's had small injuries since summer. Nothing to worry about long term, but certainly impacting what he's doing now.
    4. He's learning tons, which is going to hinder your instincts in the short term.

Seriously, guy needs a chance beyond a season or two.

I'd be curious to know what the Bobcats think about his and Biyombo's development, currently. Us as fans see it one way, but they may be perfectly happy with what is transpiring.

I do find it troubling that as bad as we are, MKG hasn't been playing very much. I've often viewed him as a Gerald Wallace-type of player - a guy who isn't going to have set plays where he takes jumpshots, but a guy who is going to fill the lane on a fast break, be a slasher for layups, and be a defensive stopper who will cause turnovers. If he can develop a jumpshot, that's a bonus. I think that just takes reps, which is why I think that is tied into court time.

This team isn't worried about not getting anything for him. Look at just about every other draft pick currently not on this team. The Bobcats let them walk with no compensation. At worst, MKG is just another wasted pick. It's not like they are paying him Tyrus Thomas money right now.

    1. no but an opponent PER of 17 at the shallow SF position isn't exactly promising

    2. He is 19. Thats not an excuse for being non impactful on either end of the floor

    3. He will always have those kinds of injuries. Its another thing I don't really like about Kidd-Gilchrist. He's always hurting, aching, acting injured. Every time he hits the floor he looks like his career is in jeopardy. I think he has a disorder that makes him prone to pain. Or he's just really soft. If he's suffering like this in his rookie year I cringe to imagine him with 5 years of NBA wear and tear on him, when he should be playing 38 mpg and having a bigger role. He'll die

    4. He's learning I guess, but he hasn't been able to adjust yet. We'll see. Its discouraging that a PG like Sessions is a much better slasher and finisher in the paint than Gilchrist
