Time Warner Cable doesn't broadcast the games in Wilmington (yes the name of the arena doesn't show the games across the state). Its a major issue that greatly contributes to the lack of viewership. The only year I was able to watch them was 2010 on my school's on campus cable provider, and they only showed the games for that year as well. If we're to pin anything on the old regime, its the TV deal.

yeah I got the genie thing. I watch games in HD and it seems like half of the nights the picture will be glitchy, sometimes correcting itself sometimes not. Last night the picture was buggin on me all night. its like every 10 seconds it blinks like the signals glitched. I don't think its a problem with the dish or box or anything because I don't have the issue on any other channel. its not a big deal just annoying

people can't get the games in Boone 2 hours up the road so its not surprising you're getting blacked out from the Imperial Death Star

I don't feel bad for Charter customers. If you have DirecTV you get the games. You wanna watch the bobcats games... get rid of cable. That said... Let me know if you want my customer number for $10 off a month for a year haha.

Also, I don't think anyone would argue that viewership is low. But Nielsens ratings are completely useless information.

First off, It's only in a handful of homes. They then use these homes and extrapolate the ratings numbers basically out of thin air. A Nielsens box in some families home in Oak Island with 3 kids below the age of 10 and parents who arent NBA fans, then gets projected throughout the state. So the whole concept is completely stupid, and altogether irrelevant. Its about the worst way in the modern day of the internet to judge television ratings.

But even after that... If I, a single 30 year old male had a box in my house it wouldn't show that I watch Bobcat games at all. Even though I watch almost every single away game, and home games I dont attend. Thing is I'm an active guy. I rarely watch anything live, and even when I do I usually end up pausing for whatever reasons. So when you flip the channel during a commercial or do like I do and fast forward through them, the numbers from your house get tossed out, because you aren't doing what they intend for television to do. Nielsen ratings don't really rate what you watch, just how effective the commercials that are aired during whatever you are watching are.

So effectively it goes like this. in the state of North Carolina, with the limited number of people who can actually get the games on TV (non cable customers)... of the few that actually watched the whole game live without turning the channel thats probably about 70 people. Then through a completely irrelevant algorithm its derived that about 7200 people watch the game.

So again, is viewership low. Of course it is, we are new brand that won 7 games last season. Is it as bad as this article would say no. The only thing this article really has an effect on is commercial buying. If you own a company you can probably use this data to say "you know what Its probably not worth it to pay to have my commercial on during a Bobcats game".

All that may be true but, I they used the same flawed system for all teams.

I agree for those that can switch to Directv- I highly recommend it.

Not everyone has a choice though. When I was at App I sat through dorms for 2 years that were Charter provided...no Bobcats. Then moved into an apartment...Charter provided TV no choice. Then moved into a rental house with some buddies...utilities had to go through the owner and he only would let us do Charter. Then since I'm a lazy student I was there a 5th year and rented another apartment that had Charter. Miserable 5 years trying to follow my team up there. The only games I ever saw on real TV were the stompings we got from Jameer Nelson in the playoffs

to be fair, I haven't exactly shopped around looking for the provider who gives me the Bobcats games because I'm in college and want to spend the least amount of money as possible and don't really watch much TV to begin with.

We had UVerse last year and got every game (some in HD). We have TWC now and no dice. I'm sure I could get ahold of their games again if I tried hard enough

Continuing to expand TV across the Carolinas will help. They have made more strides then I thought they'd be able to (there are restrictions put on them by the NBA).

Getting the All Star Game wouldn't hurt either.
