    Default My dream draft

1st Pick. Ben McLemore. Kansas. Freshman. Shooting Guard. 6'5". 195.

    16.3 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 1.9 APG
Ever since Noel shredded his knee, I've viewed McLemore as the current prize in this draft. Watching McLemore play is a pleasure because he's just so smooth. His athleticism is off the charts and his ability to score is incredible, he seems like a perfect fit between Kemba and MKG. He has a beautiful shot and is a solid three point shooter. He's also an unselfish player and is a solid passer for a two guard. He has tremendous length and appears to play calm and collected out there. His weaknesses don't seem like anything that concern me too much, when I watch him it's as if he's just still trying to figure out how to use all the talent he has and sometimes his shot selection can be a little shaky. I think he can be the lethal scorer in our offense for the future that we need, Ray Allen seems like a decent comparison for him except he may be a slightly better passer. He isn't the best ball-handler either. I like him more as a prospect than Bradley Beal who has been playing some great ball for Washington. He's one of the few players in this draft that I think has superstar potential.

TRADE: Our Portland pick (#13-15) and future first from Detroit to move up to the 6-9 range.

Second pick: Alex Len. Maryland. Center. 7'1". 250.

    12.4 PPG, 8 RPG
I'm not sure how most of you will like trading two first round picks just to move up a few slots, but I see Len as the absolute perfect fit into our core. He's a true big man and has outstanding size. I see Len as the ideal fit next to Biyombo. Len's strength currently is his offense and he is a great athlete to be so big. He's still raw, but he already has nice touch in the post and is a solid shooter from 15+ feet. Due to being such a good athlete, he's hard for opposing to defenders to keep up with at times because he gets up and down the floor very well. He's already a good free throw shooter for a big and is getting better. That's one thing I really like about him, he's constantly getting better. He's also a solid passer for a big. I think in his prime we're looking at a 16-11 guy. He needs to add some weight or I could see him getting pushed around in the pros and he needs to protect the ball better, but he's a decent rebounder. He turns it over a lot also and sometimes just doesn't look comfortable down in the post. His ceiling is very high though. Again I see him as the ideal fit next to Bizz.

Can't find a good highlight tape on him.

A lot of you I know wont want to give up that Detroit pick just to move up a bit, but I'm a big Len fan and if we snag him we still have the 2014 pick and our starting lineup for the opening game of the 2013-2014 season:

    PG-Kemba
    SG-McLemore
    SF-MKG
    PF-Bizz
    C-Len

That's NICE!!! And so young!!!!!!! We would have a young, top-10 pick at all 5 positions

Were not getting Portlands pick this year... They are fading fast and I think they will fall far enough to keep the pick. (top 12 protected)

I love Bens game but, he w avoiding the ball lime the plague in crunch time against OK State the other night. Not exactly what I was hoping for from the possible #1 OA pick.

McLemores handle and shot making ability worry me with such a high pick. As of now he is primarily an athletic spot up shooter.

With Bazz shooting 40+% from 3 and his ability to create I think he has the edge.

Id rather have the C from Gonzaga than Len.

I'm not worried that Mclemore won't be able to create his shot. That's not a big concern for me I think he is a better shot creator then people label him. Shabazz or mclemore whichever it doesn't matter to me.

i'd have no problem with this. you could replace mclemore with any of the other top wing prospects and i'd be fine with it, too. would be a really exciting, young core.

McLemore looks the real deal so far and he would fit well into our team with Kemba at the point.

I've watched Ben's last 2 games and I don't like what I see. He doesn't want the ball in crunch time. He goes MIA.

    I don't think he's a dog!

I am def leaning towards Bazz or Bennett. As of now McLemore is more of a spot up shooter.

I've been looking for some dog in McLemore all year and I haven't really seen it. I think Shabazz or Noel are my favorites right now.

Also, trading our Portland and Detroit picks to draft Len is absolutely ludicrous. You better have a crystal ball that says Len is going to be a beast to make a move like that. Keep those picks and consolidate them into making a haul in 2014 which is actually a much deeper draft.
