I was thinking of making a similar post this morning. Smart seems like the perfect Cho pick. High upside, lots of heart and hustle, good defense, and a leader. I wouldn't be surprised if he was our pick. I feel like he is more likely to reach his potential than McLemore or Bazz (or Oladipo) are.

I would also add to your post that Smart gets to the line over 6 times a game. His aggression and quick trigger are positives in my eyes, despite his not-so-great percentages. He is not afraid to put the ball on the floor and drive the lane, nor is he afraid to pull the trigger. If he can get his shot down (which IMO is a much easier fix than ball handling and aggression [I'm looking at you Henderson and McLemore]) then he will put up some great offensive numbers while also locking down his man on defense.

so do you think rolling out a trio of kemba, marcus smart, and mkg will not only be sustainable, but will be successful as well?

or are you not really concerned about fit at all?

i'm intrigued by smart's ability and skillset, i'm just not sold that he's any better than say mclemore, who i think would be a great fit here in addition to being a (maybe the) top player from this draft.

Yeah I actually think Smart is by far the best fit with those two guys and it is a big part of why I like him. I feel like our team right now lacks ball handlers and guys that can pass. Smart does both those things better then Baz or Mclemore. His ability to play the PG role would take pressure off of Kemba.

On defense 6'4'' might seem small for a 2 guard but he has the best wingspan. McLemore is about the same size really with a terrible wingspan. Smart has a much better NBA body. Baz plays horrible defense. Also Smart has the rep having a great motor on defense and 3 steals per game is elite, way ahead of the other two guys.

ah, see, i'm working under the belief that MKG is an above average ball handler and that this team could use some dead eye shooting. however, i am also of the opinion that kemba can work really well off ball, which i saw some of at UConn and here sometimes with Sessions.

no complaints about adding some solid defense to this team. they need it.

i think there are a couple of dudes who could help this team out a lot, so I'm trusting the FO to get the right one(s). smart would be a really exciting player to have, no doubt, although i can imagine some people on here flipping their shit if that happened.

Smart is more like Harden than Bazz, imo

Bazz is a bit overrated.. I think Mclemore is better. Better basketball IQ also.

I want him to create more for others, his assist numbers are atrocious this season. I am also worried about his speed and athleticism which at the next level are average.
    Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Kema Walker The Core, The Future...
    Bizmack Biyombo
    Jeffrey Taylor

His game isnt creating for others.

    He is a scorer.

His speed and athleticism may be average, but offensively, he is well above average.
