Suck until we land a star. With what we have now and the player we get this draft we will be on the way.
I agree. Otherwise we'll end up just how we were when we had Gerald Wallace as our "star". Being good enough to get in the playoffs but too bad to do anything but get knocked out in the first round. And being bad enough to get high lottery picks but not bad enough to get top 3 picks other than the one we wasted on Morrison. We'll be in that middle ground that you don't want to be in as a franchise.

Agreed, but dont forget, if it keeps on like, will Walker, MKG et al want to stick around for that 'star' to drop?

True. But the proposed star seems to be Wiggins who will more than likely be the #1 draft pick next year. My only gripe with him is that he can play either wing position but is going to want to play the 3. So where does that leave MKG? If he'd play SG then his overall dominance on both ends with MKG's defense and slashing, interior D and rebounding from Biyombo with Mully's scoring and Kemba's beautiful play makes for a pretty intimidating starting 5 in the next few years.

I would love for the Bobcats to suck and get a superstar player in the draft but there aren't many of those players coming out. Some say Wiggins will be the next superstar to come out, but he has yet to play a college basketball game yet. People were saying the same thing about Harrison Barnes coming out of high school and look what happened with him. Even if there is one superstar in the draft it doesn't mean we will get the #1 pick to get him (Anthony Davis). Indiana is the #2 seed right now in the East and where is their superstar? We should have 3 or 4 picks in the next two drafts, we just need to draft well. If we are able to sign either Nikola Pekovic, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap (preferably in that order) along with some decent to good veteran bench players for 2-3 years for a decent price we could fight for the 8th seed next year. After that I think we can keep getting better like Indiana has been doing. By the time either of the bigs contract would be up Biz should be fully developed and we wouldn't necessarily need that big anymore.

Yeah that's a good point about Harrison Barnes. He was getting Kobe comparisons out of high school and he's fallen far short of that to say the least thus far. But just looking at film of Wiggins play he appears to be the real deal. He can score in every way imaginable, pass, rebound, play good perimeter d and block shots as well. He really can do it all on the court at least at this level. But I want to see how he does in college too. Hopefully he goes to UNC so he can play rival Duke and have battles against Jabari Parker. The Pacers have a budding star in Paul George who made his first all star appearance this year. Generally its tough to win without a star unless you're the 04 Pistons. It'd be best to get serviceable bigs but not necessarily bigs that good or you might end up with a team in that dreaded middle ground. Too bad to succeed but too good to get high draft picks. We should wait until after we have drafted our nucleus of young players to go after the most talented veterans. (Thunder got Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka before going after Perkins). The hope is that you draft the stars and that you'll just need veterans to serve as role players and fill in the things you cant do. (i.e. Thunder getting rid of Green for Perkins to provide interior D or the Bulls nabbing Boozer for post scoring and rebounding)

The last time I remember going into a draft and pundits actually saying it was a strong draft was 2003 (the Lebron, Wade, Melo draft). Maybe the 2007 draft with Oden and Durant. For a couple seasons we heard that last year's draft was going to be incredible, then everyone said it was a one-player draft as it approached. The fact is that there are always top tier players in a draft with very few exceptions.

It's going to be fascinating to see if Cho can find them. When looking at OKC as a small-market model, the caveat is always that Durant (a can't-miss offensive prospect) dropped into their laps. And that is true. However, the thing that made that franchise was the drafting of Westbrook and Harden, neither of whom were seen as max-contract guys on draft day and both were considered reaches. This draft is going to be really interesting because between McLemore, Muhammed, Noel and a couple others there will be franchise player, but there's not going to be a consensus around who that is.

Im sorry but Barnes is not even remotely on the same level as Wiggins or Parker for that matter.

And thats coming from a UNC fan that follows recruiting closely. Wiggins is more athletic, has a better handle, and is much quicker.

Yeah but the point is that he had a lot of hype just like Wiggins and I have to say Barnes did look unstoppable in HS. But I concur. Wiggins just seems to be in a league of his own. But let's see him play a few college games before we dub him the next basketball god.

Barnes had alot of hype as he was the number one rated player in his class. Understandable.

Players of Wiggins and Parkers ability / potential are just rare and are not in every hs class.

You can wait to dub Wiggins, I know a superstar when I see one. Dub has already been dubbed and crowned as far as im concerned.

No it was more than him just being number one. Barnes was being compared to Kobe out of high school. Barnes had just as much hype as Wiggins does now and looking at him in high school it was well deserved. Everyone really thought he was the best thing to come out of high school since Lebron as well and I mean everyone. There isn't a scout in college or the NBA who wasn't salivating over the chance to have him on their team. But we all know how that turned out.

All i'm saying is that it's happened many times before where a kid is hyped up like Wiggins is now and seeing him play he deserves much praise. While I am optimistic about him and do believe he'll be great i'll stay in touch with reality and not get too foreign with the idea that he might not live up to the hype.
