Default we should make an offseason run @

Dwight Howard, Josh Smith and Phil Jackson

Ok I know it isn't likely, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take our shot.

It takes a long time to develop big guys so why not go after some vets. I know Dwight is a drama queen and Josh Smith has had his share of immaturity, but if we could get the zen master to manage everyone I would be ok with it. We could roll out the new Charlotte Hornets with a winning team and get the buzz back at the Hive!

We could amnesty Tyrus to clear room. Sessions should be easy to trade for pure cap space. With Mully and Hendo we just wouldn't pick up their options. We might even be able to move Gordon by including a pick if we think this is going to take place.

    Kemba
    Our Draft Pick/ Ben Gordon
    MKG/Taylor
    Smith
    Howard/Biz

Would be a nice lineup and still under the LT. If things don't work out we still have all our core guys intact.

If we could move everyone but MKG, Kemba and Biz we could even try to sign a big three: Paul, Howard and Smith if they would take a little less to make the salaries work.

I would rather actively stay away from both of those mental cases. OVER RATED CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP/

We'll definitely make an offer, just like every other team with enough space to throw a contract at him. It's just that it'd be highly unlikely that he'd give us the time of day.

Neither of those two have team options. We can make qualifying offers (although I wouldn't be surprised if we don't), but all that means is that we'll have the right to match another team's offer if they sign one of them to an offer sheet.

Don't agree - it's a waste of time, during which you'll miss out on players who would have both signed and helped going forward. I mean, while we're at it why don't we plan the future based on chasing Lebron and Bosh in two years?

That is what I meant. Don't make the qualifying offers, which we would have to do to free up cap space. If we can't hit a free agent home run though then next best thing is cap space. Teams are going to be dying to get under the cap in the next couple of years when the new system kicks in. I don't want to see us pay those guys just because we have space. Neither deserves a big contract. Better to keep our options open then be saddled with overpaid scrubs. By chasing big name free agents we can do it without looking cheap.

I would take Jackson, but there is no way he would ever consider this job. Howard is a total head-case and I just believe he has held his teams hostage the last two-three years. Josh Smith, in my opinion, is a bit overrated for the price he is seeking. I wouldn't offer him anything close to a max deal. I would much rather have Nikola Pekovic and JJ Hickson. These are two guys who are incredibly physical amd gritty.

The Chris Paul to Charlotte dream is all but done (if there was even a pinch of reality to begin with). Paul will re-sign with the Clippers. Besides, I think we will do just fine in the future with Kemba Walker being our floor general. Stay the course, add our major players through the draft and supplement it through free agency. We do not need to build through free agency.
