just got yet another survey regarding name change

this time much shorter asking to evaluate between the following team name changes

Charlotte Flight
Charlotte Cougars
Charlotte Hornets
Charlotte Dragons

I actually like the Flight, but this is really all about the Hornets. A second survey going out tells me that there was enough interest in a name change to garner more research. I think it is going to happen.

I find it interesting that all of the names are Charlotte X. I wonder if they have considered or if they found evidence against a Carolina team name. Considering we have the Panthers and Hurricanes, I would have thought there would have been more noise for a Carolina name. Especially when they have had preseason games in Charleston and are trying to get more fans around the Carolinas outside of Charlotte.

Plus you would think that MJ would favor Carolina with it being the short-version for the UNC basketball team (football belongs to South Carolina :P). Not to mention that Carolina Flight (or even Carolina Cougars) sounds BA.

Not allowed to remove Charlotte from the team name. It was written into the contract when we got the new team

I think this survey all but, puts the nail in the Bobcats brand coffin. I can't see a second survey about the different names listed if there wasn't enough support in the original survey to justify a name change.

I havent received my email yet but, a guy on twitter posted screen shots of all the questions. Bobcats was only mentioned once in the entire survey and it was about the original choices when we were awarded the franchise. I'll post the links to the tweets.

Charlotte city council made sure that And the 20 year lease with severe penalties for breaking the lease early was in the agreement after all the backlash they rec'd for agreeing to build the arena without a referendum.
