Default Nice article on Cody Zeller

The community is clearly leaning Shabazz, McLemore, or Noel; but Zeller is has been far and away the most unheralded prospect on the forum, which I find suprising given more and
more draft experts are imploring the future 1st pick team to go Zeller. I found an informative article on the bleacher reptort: not the most credible source in the eyes of the community, but I had no objections for the arguments it put on the table. My thinking is that our 4 man moving forward with the hypothetical "core" in Kemba, MKG, and Biz: must be a legitimate and proven scoring asset (with some solid defense to boot),you're going to need above average scorers on the floor to offset MKG and Biz's below average scoring capabilities..at every position. We have better guard prospects in 2014 and only such a highly touted forward prospect in this one.

So I'm putting it on the table: Zeller 2013, and if not, why?

First, take out the projected 2014 draft because its never smart to allow a future draft to influence this one. Nobody knew McLemore's name before this season and he's widely considered the #1 prospect, and the best big prospect is out for the next 6-8 months with torn ligaments. We have no idea how things will turn out.

Back to Zeller, he does project to be a solid scorer, but there are a number of things working against him. He doesn't have the mass and (more importantly) the length needed to project to a high rate of efficient scoring in the NBA. He also hasn't improved as much on a year over year basis as you would expect from a guy in his second year. One other thing is that he doesn't quite have the star power as others... Though that's much more subjective.

Most importantly, it's a case of people simply not thinking he's quite as talented as some other guys.

Don't care because I don't want. He's not even the best prospect on his team

i am completely against drafting zeller for this team....the lack of length scares me......can't defend...i'd rather take a guy like shabazz then with the pdx if we get it a guy like olynyk

He has tiny dinosaur arms and projects to be a power forward in the NBA, not a center. I don't even think he would really be an upgrade over Mullens honestly. His brother went around the 13th pick i believe, and i can tell you for a fact that tyler was a much better offensive player in college that cody. I honestly don't get the hype about him and never have. I think he's Nick Collison at best in the pros. I would consider him if we got the Portland pick and he was available,(which he won't be) but i wouldn't take him #1 overall if hell froze over and the devil gave sleigh rides to little kids! lol.

And p.s. the bleacher report is trash. It's not a real sports site. It's a bunch of dudes who took 10 minutes off from playing skyrim and watching internet porn so that they can pretend to be sports writers. It's the onion of sports!

To be fair to Cody, he dominated the #1 overall pick in their two games last year.

lets be real here, people don't want to tank a whole year and end up drafting a white dude in the top 4. if he had a 7'2 wingspan and weighs 280 people would still be negative about him

I'd tank for a whole year for a Ricky Rubio or Kevin Love and be fine with it.

only if you knew theyd become at level, but in reality at the time everyone trashed Minnesota for trading Mayo for Love and Ricky fell to 5 despite being projected as an easy 2nd overall behind Blake
