As far as Noel goes, i say no. He and Biz play the same position. So no offense, but i don't know why you are talking about not trotting them out together. We need a center who can score in the post. It's our single biggest need right now. Adding Noel is basically just adding a 2 inch taller Biz. And don't say "oh but he's so much better than Biz". At this point, no he's not. Who's to say that Biz wouldn't having blocked a ton of shots in college? He's done it from day 1 in the NBA. I'm sure he could reject a ton if he had played against Vaderbilt! lol. They both block shots, foul way too much, and can't hit the broad side of a barn with a shotgun. No thanks! We need to go after an established guy like Jefferson or Pekovic in free agency. I don't see a center in this draft that puts us on the road to contending for anything.
If Hendo doesn't take $6mil or less, then I'm fine with letting him walk.
His production is easily replaceable so it'd be a mistake to hamstring ourselves with a larger contract than what he's worth. I'm certainly not going to give him a big contract just because "we can't keep losing players for nothing".
Agreed. Letting players walk and creating cap room to get better players is just fine with me. Cho wants to build this from the ground up and i'm cool with that. As far as i'm concerned, Kemba is our only definite keeper right now. I'm just interested to see how things play out. And it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks about Mully or Hendo . We're gonna have to draft before free agency anyway. And you don't really do anything with restricted guys until you see what they get offered by someone else. So it's really out of the front office's hands until then.
Hate letting players walk.
But if he gets overpaid badly, we let him walk.
We can't keep tying up our financial future for players who don't deserve the kind of money we throw at them.
Proud Australian Bobcats Fan!!!
I see Detroit throwing at least 8 per at him.
Here's the SG rankings based on efficiency:
which ranks Hendo at 14th. Looking at those guys ahead of him I see a lot of warts with all but just a few.
Playing devil's advocate here...quality SGs seem to be few and far between in the league right now. Taking supply and demand into account would we be so sure that 8 million couldn't be movable down the line in regards to Hendo? We let guys walk when they're demanding outrageous money which can't be flipped later. Would Hendo at 8 be that considering the current setting?
I'm not absolutely sold on that.
Hope Resurrected: "I think I can bring an attitude to a team as far as, ‘All right, no matter what, we are not losing this game'." - Kemba Walker
"Its okay to be bad; just so long as you're bad ass." - Keetch
"I don't care if he uses a sophisticated pulley and tackle system to get his shot off if the bitch goes in."-Mustachio
As to the initial question, we've got 4 years of data on Hendo. That data tells us that games like Boston are the exception rather than the norm. He's improved A LOT since he came into the league, and no doubt LB probably stunted his development to a degree, but his recent play notwithstanding, I think we have a pretty good idea of what he is at this point. He's a good player, but we'll likely have the chance to get a potentially better player, and I think we should.
Appears he's trying to play his way out of Charlotte. It's a tough situation, We just can't afford to pay what he'll want and what he'll likely get for his inconsistency to this point plus his history of injuries. He would be good to keep but it just doesn't seem like he'll be a good fit here going forward for the money unless he wants to cut us a deal (not likely). He's a good player with issues (injuries/inconsistent) and we just can't pay out of the world money for that if we are really building like we've said we are building.
