I don't do these anymore because I'm too competitive to the point that I can't enjoy the tournament and it's Cinderellas and all the stuff that makes the first weekend so much fun....so in that spirit, I'll just make a fantasy bracket where my Heels win it all!
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
SEC only getting three teams in is a joke. Clearly some folks on the selection committee are bitter about getting dominated in foosball.
Tennessee should have gotten in over Middle Tennessee
Middle had one win vs the top 100, Old Miss a 12 seed by 3pts at home
Tennessee had 9 wins vs the top 100, 3-3 vs the top 50 including a 1 pt loss at georgetown, beat florida, missouri, and beat ky by 30, also won 9 of its last 11 games
You can thank Ole Miss for a team like Tennessee not making it. That last spot went to them with the AQ bid and UT got pushed out. MTSU finished first in their conference regular season while UT finished 5th in a down SEC, and they certainly didn't help themselves by losing in the SEC quarters to another team who didn't make the tourney.
MTSU also won 17 of their last 18 games.
Lets stop with this whole top X wins stuff. The selection committee has been saying all along they weigh losses more than wins and penalize teams for scheduling poor OOC games.
UVa played teams like George Mason (and lost), Fairfield, Delaware (and lost), Seattle, and Lamar. That's not going to get it done. They had the opportunity to schedule better opponents if they wanted to up their résumé.
